Default Cricket the Human Priest, Gate Closer

Cricket is my first character to win since the Steam release of ADoM. I had a small handfull of wins (3 or 4) back in 1.1.1, and no significant ultra attempts, then when 1.2 came out I had a couple more successful characters, but my play fell off after my first character to ever enter the Chaos Gate got absolutely obliterated by Andy.
Cricket had a very promising beginning, crowned before level 10 with Purifier, and started with music (and found a Glockenspiel in the Small Cave), meaning he had the intention and the means to be a friend to the Cat Race, an ambition he successfully completed, receiving the Ring of the Master Cat (this was an especially meaningful redemption as my previous highest scoring character in the Steam version of ADoM was a troll barbarian who had killed many cats and negligently forgot that he was approaching the Cat Lord and got confusingly killed by something invisible shortly after the Casino... the frustration was palpable)
Cricket was notably deprived of wishes and means of curing corruption. He received 0 potions or scrolls of cure corruption as random drops, and the one wish he obtained was a ring of Djinni summoning found after allowing Khelavaster to die. While he did find the sinister library of Niltrias, he did so without the stealth skill, and thus was not rewarded with the Weird tome. All this combined with the fact that he did not enter the Bug Temple, meant that his only sources of corruption removal were from Guth Alak and the Ice Queen, but thanks to a pair of Seven League Boots found early in the game, he managed to close the gate on day 89, making him (to my knowledge), my first character to complete this challenge in less than 90 days, meaning that his limited sources of chaos resistance were Adequate.

His one wish was not necessary for completing his quest, so he used it to wish for a cute dog before leaving the Drakalor chain, though his achievements do not list him as having made a tiny girl very happy, which is odd because he pointedly avoided speaking to her after the death of her dog, and left the corpse languishing in Munxip's shop (I wonder what happens if you give the corpse to the Tiny Girl after she is walking around with a wished-for cute dog...)

He also disappointingly failed to receive the "beloved by fate" achievement, which is given to characters chosen by fate who complete the game... this in spite of the fact that he was (like all my characters) entirely decided by fate...

In any event, he is the first Human and first Priest to join the ranks of my victorious heroes.
