Default Pan, the dwarven assassin, Order Ultra

Ho ho! Finally I'm leaving YASD forums.
Well. First thing I want to say is that Dwarf+Assassin+Raven looks terribly overpowered. Fantastic good skills setup: Alchemy, Alertness, Find weakness, Backstabbing, Archery, Dodge, Detect traps, Mining, Smithing and plus those crit enhancements provided by class and plus extra 10 speed and guaranteed awesome artifact at lvl 16+, come on stop him someone! That is my first and maybe last Ultra so I regret nothing after playing OP combo, was challenging enough for me got ton of fun anyway.

Pan the Dwarf wasn't the first assa-dwarf, I've buried around 4 very promising characters and dozen of less promising during this month.

So, here's short (uh..not short) adventure log:

    1. Killed bandit in the outlaw town (the best first kill I think. Rare creature in the dungeons, more often you can meet 'em in the wilderness, but easily evade, and easy to find them if you need to complete barbarian quest after cutting Filk throat). After that I saved carpenter, found no altar and moved to the north looking for the cute dog.

    2. Tbh, I was looking for altars, not the dog. And I found white one, but also got jet-black glaive "Long Sting" in the lesser vault. That was ok. Precrowned with Hammerhead, that's always nice, no longer need to pick-up those heavy pick-axes and Hammerhead was decent as weapon in early game. Ah, the dog was dead, so sad (no).

    3. Traveled to the dwarven dungeons, and at the time I entered the city I had control teleportation from blink dogs and AoLS dropped just somewhere. I don't know what's wrong with this game, sometimes you can find AoLS in the first cave, but sometimes I just Shift+[Q]uit after trying to find aols/wish from pool/rods/wow everywhere during 100+ days! Once I found WoW in the High King dungeons. With 5 charges. Oh, that was sweet, but still failed UE, that's sad story. Okay okay I need to go on.

    4. First Thrundarr quests: almost died in the the living forest, dunno why, I had not bad DV/PV, but those trees were hitting me so hard. Ran from Ogre Cave, had no ring of cold resistance or something like that, decided to raise my level a bit and then visit Pyramid. Some time I've spend in the Huge Room collecting herbs, slaying monsters, evading cats and hunting pixies to get their corpses (no success, no teleportation for me, but found 7LB!)

    5. Ooookay, I also found ring of control teleportation and decided to drink from pool I found in the random dungeon. Lost tele-control, got teleportation and doomed on the top. Thanks god for removing doom, after that I traveled to pyramid, graveyard and infinite dungeon looking for blink dogs.... I killed around 60 more dogs before I found corpse %__%

    6. Explored Water dragon cave exactly at level 16 with my blessed ring of fish and teleport wand, then decided to move to one more random dungeon...wait a second! I'm N+ after blink dogs massacre, hurry to the dwarf town to visit mystic before water elemental gift me the trident and shift me to L also for finishing quest (I was planning to swap my Hammerhead to trident, so I don't need Rolf's axe from mystic. Instead I got ring of ice, 4 SoCR and other good loot, noice!). Several days passed, where's that water elemental? .....ah, I forgot to talk with Blup, oh.

    7. Finished all Thrundarr quests. Nasty daemon accidentally killed Glod (accidentally, yeah) and no more blacksmith left in the town except me. Visited High King dungeon, struck a bit before I found white baby dragon to freeze the lake for me (yes I had no wand of cold and tbh first one I found maybe in the casino later). And funny thing: finally found that semi-mythical giant slug corpse, lol. On the road back I got Ice Ball spellbook, hm hm hm.

    8. Around lvl20 Saved Khelly, visited Water Temple, raised my Le and Literacy, hello Ice Ball, bye Ancient Chaos Wyrm. That was just slaughtering, no less.

    9. Traveled to Darkforge, nothing interesting, no artifacts. We need to go deeper, to the casino and the Cat Lord. No sooner said than done. Casino Shoppe was just fantastic: sapphire amulet in the pile of garbage, truly gamebreaking item. So, I got Preserver, Cat's Ring and ring of regeneration I've found somewhere and was just happy. Time to move back to the dwarftown foooorrrrr...

    10. Smithing, enchanting with SoP/SoD and drinking my PoGA's I've collected for the time when I can't raise my stats using herbs anymore. I've improved my equip a bit and then run straight to the blue dragon caves, also found greater vault of red dragons (nice!), but not greatest - with only 1 Wyrm and 1 artifact (not nice!), and artifact was the Black tome of HocusPocus (not nice at all!)... and ordinary ring in the loot (wow nice!)

    11. Then I dive in the deep blue caves full of dragons, fully cleared lower floor, got Needle, some nice potions and scrolls, after that - to the surface, 'Hi assassin prince, okay', 'Hi Filk! Bye Filk!', 'Hi Scintillating cave!...' *mamma mia, there's huge pack of gr.molochs in the cavern. Maybe 25 or 30. Good thing they were sleeping!* Was badly surprised by moloch emperor, wasn't able to damage him in melee at all, somehow killed him with arrows. Back to the Terinyo, 'Hi, Khelly! ThAnKs KhElLy!', back to the dwarftown, rolled second RoDS with potion of exchange, lured dwarfs on the stairs, killed them, 'YeS oF cOuRsE there's your 6 artifacts lil rat, don't call me blob, ok bye'... damn it's day 93, oh.

    12. Smithing again, then hunting that boar for 20 (!) days, meet only once but that was enough for skull, I'm lucky today. Day 120 - 'Just bye, Keriax' - fed him with arrows and magic missles standing faaaar away, thanks Farsight spell. I had all stuff for GaabBaay except farmer corpse, got it from the first farmer.

    13. And now the most complex part - I need to shift from C to L without altar (I had rly bad experience with that), and I'm level 34, which is better than 50 in terms of alignment shifting but still high enough. Go to the big room, amulet of order on the neck, just gather plants, do not hurry, look for the wounded monsters, heal them. Repeat, repeat, repeat, wow, I'm CN, then NC, N, N+, LN.. spent around 5 hours on that. Was really lucky to find Cure light wounds spellbook before. I had absolutely no idea how Morodwyn will react on my L-C-L shift, but everything was fine. Just *ground rumbles* once, thats' all. 2 more hours of non-stop sacrificing to get L+, Serpent's Bite dagger for crowning, eh I wanted Oman but okay, the god knows better what I need.

    14. Collected 3 more Orbs, then dive in the blue dragon caves again to get exp and items. Found not so many usefull stuff I wanted, but ok, achieved lvl 46, Alchemy 100, created around 8 PoGA using Ultra Heal and Boost speed potions as reagents.

    15. Final preparation, visited water dragon cave again to check items, found nothing interesting, blessed all items I need, dozens of potion of boost 'something' I collected whole game etc etc. The time has come! Grab CrOwN and MeDaL, teleport from stairway to stairway. Anomaly level, then ice corridor, got leather armor Nature's Companion. Meh. Just ok.

    16. Nothing I can say about level 50. I just killed everyone. Maybe I was hit once, can't remember.
After that: superfinal preparation. Check everything... wait a sec where's my good bows -_______- and I have not enough arrows of humanoid/demon slaying. Yeah my good bows were burned by the blue dragons and I forgot about that. Whatever. Drink Potions of boost 'everything' I can, one RoDS for AoLS, one RoDS for SPEED. Now go.

    17. ChAoS. Magic mapping, detect creatures, lit the torch, equip AoLS and helm of mental stability, teleport... oh fk it's chaos sister, teleport again, 'Hi I got something for ya!', *pew-pew-pew-pew* oh damn, no arrows of slaying left, go melee! ...with full force... with full force ... with full force, *come on die please*... you paralyzed........... you died...... you resurrected..... *this is stupid waste of AoLS, I had Preserver with paralyze resistance*
uhhhhh. Equip Preserver, teleport, SoCR, SoCR again, teleport close to him.... with full force.. full force... full force *come on die you bastard*
and he died finally. That's the story.
    ______
PS: never seen phase dagger this time. So strange. Got funny skills for using scrolls/potions of education. I didn't know I can get Bridge building that way...
PPS: Sorry for poor english :P

    Congrats on the win!

Assassins are really good once they get going and dwarves are one of the easiest to get going so it is a really nice R/C combo.

Next time if you need to find wounded monsters to heal, remember to bring some pets to the water cave. Just not so powerful ones that will kill you if they go berserk.

I guess the ice queen location wasn't in R60 yet? Next common release should be around the corner anyways with all the cool new stuff.

    Hey, thanks!
nIce Queen is in r60 already, but I rarely do her quests. So I can use wand of monster creation and then heal monsters in Ice zone right?
The only thing I didn't found in r60 is Tome of donors or maybe it just has chance to spawn, I don't know. Checked last floor many times at high levels, several times at low levels, found no Tome or other stuff I should find according to wiki.

    >bring some pets to the water cave
    >WATER CAVE
i'm triggered. My previous promising character was killed by Giant Dragon Turtle. >_< plz no water cave. Thanks for advice anyway, maybe next time I better go to the ToEF, seems legit too.
