Is it just me that is a bit annoyed by interface and message buffer getting in the way?

Is there a way to make message buffer text transparent or to make the game not scroll all left so monsters and text overlap?
It is also an issue when fighting at the top of vaults, we don't want to map to scroll so stuff gets hidden under the character overlay at the top if possible.

See attached image for example ,it wasn't too bad in this example, but it's worse with more dangerous foes.
