What I like best about ADOM is the emotional involvement that you can sometimes feel (well, I do at least). For example, the puppy quest. Call me a little girl, but after saving her puppy I am sometimes am nearly crying with happiness, or with frustration if the cute dog dies on the way home. With weakish starting characters I usually skip the puppy quest because it is too hard, but I always feel guilty about it when I do.. this is one of the very few games that bring that kind of involvement for me.

Anyway, is there any adventure that you remember particular well, because something really horrible, funny or cool happened?

One adventure that I shall never forget was when I tried taking a brief visit to the entrance of the ToEF to read a SoFS. I got a quickling queen. She made a fantastic companion! Most companions just can?t keep up with you when you have 7LB, but this baby was dancing around me in circles. Also, she regenerates at incredible speed and attacks and poisons my enemies at that same incredible speed.

So I named her Alice, and we went through all kinds of adventures together, having a heck of a time. But then, somewhere deep in a nasty dark dungeon where the sun never shines, it all went horribly horribly wrong. Alice stepped over a purple trap and was engulfed by some kind of weird and disgusting radiation. And stepped over it again, and again, and again, with that grace and speed of hers that I so admired, before I could even start to scream at her NO! STAY AWAY FROM THERE ALICE! Next thing I know, I am attacked by Alice, the lightning-fast writhing mass of primal chaos..

Well, I just can?t describe what I felt as I saw my friend, who had been together through so much together with me, turn into a horribly deformed monster in front of my eyes. What a nightmare. Also the character got killed there.. I think he would have killed himself if he had managed to win that fight.
