More Weird Tome stuff.

I was wondering what version you were playing, Sadface. I may be remembering something that is not at all true, but in 1.0.0, I seem to remember that you had to talk to the ghost librarian outside of the library to get the weird tome. But maybe I am going crazy and thinking of something else entirely.

That was born from a rumour dating back to before the weird tome quest was understood and before anyone had achieved an ultra.

After the encounter with Khelvaster, I tried giving it to a few other convenient characters. Everyone simply ignored it. I tried: all named characters in Terinyo, all named characters in Lawenilothehl, (except Hotz and his boys, as they were already dead), Kherab, Thrundar, the Dwarftown Priest, and Garth. The demented ratling eats it, and calls me a fool. (Crap. I guess he's probably right about that.)

Characters I haven't tried that might have an interesting response: Khelvaster - pre-AoLS, Dwarven Mystic, Gaab'Baay, the Oracle. All were gone before I unthinkingly threw it away down the rathole.

I must admit, I think the Weird Tome still has some secrets that may yet be unlocked.

PS: This guy tested with a grey elf bard with maxed out music, literacy and stats, because such characters are apparently getting closer to reading the weird tome than anyone else. Now I was thinking: could the book starsign have any further influence here? Probably a dead end, but you never know.. Oh, and how about the special book room?

Read the link you posted - I was wondering if Filk might do anything with the tome but apparently that's been tried. I thought about trying to read the tome in the stone circle, but I haven't been able to keep a bard alive long enough to try it. I may have to start save-scumming to investigate this further.
