    Lets also remember to make good use of our rock skill while we're at the low levels. Hardy and Tough Skin sounds like a good idea, and maybe start getting into the Quick, V Quick talents as well - can never be too fast. Just take it nice and slow to start with, don't be a hero, don't rush in and run away from all of the dangerous things to low leves (DE Wizards, any dodgy oozes). With any luck we'll get a decent offensive spell before too long.

    Default First blood part 1

    After 72 hours of nervous waiting, I fired up the savegame and got into the fray. I suggest we go on in the normal order after this, letting SMITE take up final position in the league.

    Report:
    Changed name to "Gaia", entered level 1.

    ID:1
    (U)sed holy symbol about 100 times
    Read spellbook once (got two failures to learn first)
    Kill an orc for knife and "bone wand" - which puts us to burdened!
    Milk a goblin rockthrower for 6 rocks. He drops a corpse, cursed, so I cook it successfully. Keeping it in inventory for food pres. skill advance. (and of course, to be become strained so we can get more +ST)
    Rabid dog dies. So far all kills in melee with very aggressive tactic.
    Kill a kobold after getting two arrows, then a skeleton with thrown rock. Level 2!
    Literacy, food preservation, 2xhealing.
    Milk another goblin rockthrower for 10 rocks or so
    Fight two giant rats, get sick! Cure disease saved our life.
    Level 3 - healing, detect item status, archery, first aid.
    Gain "hardy" talent.
    Kill an orc, cook 4 corpses. Strained now, but enough food.
    Wait a bit on healing, get one +ST.
    Kill some more mobs, get level 4 - healing x3, detect item status.
    Also +1 ST, and actually some more rocks from throwers.
    Find a spellbook, slow poison. Read it to the ground, along with cure disease.
    Level 5. Literacy, detect item, archery, healing.
    Encounter orc scorcher, he throws a spear which I collect and use. I know we have +2 weapon skill with mace, but polearms are so much better, and also easier to find (thrown by various orcs)
    At 1731 turns, I enter next level.

    ID2:
    Immediately find next stairs, but of course stay on level.
    Kill an ogre, he drops corpse but no +ST.
    Find quarrels.
    Find a spellbook, turns out to be darkness.
    Explored about half the level when 2000 turns is out.

    I went, as you see, very slowly, and took my time to cook quite a few corpses. We shall not fear starvation even if we have to spend a lot of time using holy symbols or something. I did not find any source of PV, which is why the talent we get next level-up should go to get tough skin. In my huble opinion. Also, thrown rocks should kill anything we encounter, but do not use them up needlessly! It is just as important to train wielded weapon skill. Polearm will give us +DV after we train it a little more.

    Ok, I take over...

    2070 Gaia killed a large bat (yeah!)
    2119 She reached LVL 6, maxed Healing and increased Concentration, got Tough Skin and +1 St
    2319 She prayed until she felt comforable
    2326 She found better small shield
    2400 She descended to ID3
    2421 She found better clothes (robe [+0, +1])
    2509 She found the down staircase after some exploring
    2706 She found the spellbook "Disarm Trap" and read it to the end. She also read the "Darkness" spellbook until it disappeared.
    2908 She descended to ID4
    3089 She killed an ogre, reached LVL7, increased Concentration and Archery, +1 St
    3289 She found an open Viper pit, went along and finally found the pit vipers. They poisoned her badly. She consumed the PoEH and 2 PRAYERs (I forgot about the slow poison spell. Forgive me.)
    3698 She found a studded leather armor and the probable location of the staircase by exclusion. It's the room to the lower right. It has 2 doors. The door entering from the left is locked. Gaia tried to enter from the top door, which is open, but she left again. The room is dark and can contain more vipers(!).
    4000 My turns ran out while chasing an afraid female doppleganger.

    Ok, my turn

    I went through the dark narrow hallway on evilknievel's map and opened the door to the last unopened room.
    There were more vipers in the last room, which was also dark. Killed them and doppleganger which came back.
    I used up last prayer (ground rumbles).
    Went to next level, and healed/diluted poison there (continued on 500th turn or so)
    Muscles felt stronger once (+1 str)
    Found horned helmet, spellbook of cure poison.
    Killed yellow and blue goblins, kobold chieftain, displacer beast and rats
    Advanced to exp. level 8: cooking, concentration, and first aid (should've done healing, sorry)
    Spent another 300 turns healing while on I5.
    Went to I6. I don't have a screenshot but imagine one, empty room with a locked door.
    Remember that there are no prayers left.

    Here?s the general run down of what happened:

    6000: Had a general look through the inventory etc etc. Equipped the spear we had.

    6015: Tried to open the door - locked and not budging. Kicked the bugger down. FIREBALL. Clothes, copper hewn girdle and an arrow got cremated. Health dropped to 42.

    6045: Found some dollar. Picked it up. Realised money isn?t going to be much of a use, so put it back down for some lucky goblin. Found the Downstairs. Ignored them for now. Killed a fire beetle - no corpse.

    6737 - Having explored the level and finding it to be a very boring place - apart from a run in with a dark sage, went back to the stairs and descended.

    6932 - Coming to a dead end boring room, walked back down the corridor. Rust Monster decided to try and hump my leg. Beat him back with rocks, but at the expense of the rusting the spear and ring getting turned into dust.

    7175 - Encountered a large bat and a wight. Wight fell to a rock in one hit. Bat died and left corpse. Succesfully cooked.

    7200 - Nothing else around, encountered a cave lion, but he got stuck in a web from a spider that recently got wasted. Left him to it and descended to Lv8.

    7311 - Killed an Imp. Levelled up. 4 skill increases - 2 in Food Pres, 1 in Literacy, 1 in concentration (taking it to 100). For the talent - took porter, to help us out for the time being with being burdened. Encountered a tension room of Silver wolves.

    7770- Wiped out tension room - got some corpses and cooked em. Let?s remember to use cooking, eh?

    7824 - Strolled down the corridor, through a dark room. Went beyond that and down another corridor. Saw an Outlaw leader and threw some rocks at him. Didn?t do a lot. Went backwards to fight him in a room, found a large kobold blocking the way. Killed that. Rust Monster blocking the way. Stuck between a rock and another rock. Not amused. Outlaw leader hit me, health dropped to 41. Cast Darkness, used the Holy Symbol a few times, and reached 8000. Sorry guys! Got some food though, if someone manages to get out of this pickle!

    Didn't create a screenshot, SLG etc. Didn't find anything at all really. Just a note to the next person that there is a rust monster to the right, an outlaw leader to the left. Good luck.

    8000	Restored the game, checked on inventory, skills etc.
    	Dropped some clothes and a large ration to get off 'Burdened' status.
    	Attacked the outlaw leader for a bit until it moved away, then the
    	rust monster (after disarming), then finding that the outlaw leader
    	returned, I finally killed it (after switching to Berserk).
    	Then killed the rust monster after a lot of time, also at Berserk
    	tactics.
    ~8270	Got a new orcish spear from an orc scorcher.
    8304	Stepped into a teleportation trap.
    ~8360	I sense imminent danger... but the feeling passes.
    8616	Found a wooden shield and equipped it instead of the small shield;
    	some time ago, also found clothes [+2, +0] and substituted them for the
    	studded leather armor (which I now carry along in my inventory).
    8630	Found the down staircase, but decided to explore some more.
    	Rocks are running very low btw, only three (non-stacking ones) left.
    8800	Another rust monster, yikes.  Cast Darkness and preparing to fight it
    	unarmed and unburdened, at Berserk.
    8912	Killed it.  Time to descend.
    8967	At the staircase... oh wait, I have till turn 10000.  In that case,
    	I'll walk around some more.
    9080	I hear a distant wind.
    9085	I see a fire vortex (behind some other monsters).  I still only have
    	those three non-stacking rocks left for missile weapons; I also have an
    	uncursed bone wand.  I'll just zap it... ah, a wand of digging (still
    	not identified, so I don't know how many charges are left).  I suppose
    	Darkness must come to the rescue once again.
    9117	Ah, the fire vortex just stepped into the teleport trap from turn
    	8304...
    9118	...to reappear pretty closely behind me.  Crap.
    9129	I cast Darkness, but decided to take a risk and leave the dark area.
    	The fire vortex detonated and did some 20 points of damage, with no
    	items destructed.  Not that bad, really.
    9130	Hey, it killed off a ratling archer I had been leading along, milking
    	it for quarrels, and it dropped a light crossbow and some more
    	quarrels.  Nice!  Let's equip it.
    9279	I notice a slurping sound in the distance.  Ooh, and I'm only 31 XP
    	away from character level 10.
    9298	Level 10.  Improved Archery (x3), First aid.
    9378	A margoyle is being annoying.  I hadn't really healed up yet, and now
    	I'm down to 28 HP.  Gotta be careful.
    9552	Went into a corner near the down staircase to heal and pray.  Let's try
    	to regain some piety.
    9967	I'm back at full HP, but praying still makes me feel uncomfortable.  Oh
    	well.  Time to descend and have a brief look around before handing over
    	to Juha.
    9970	I9.  These caverns almost seem to be endless.
    9976	I notice a squeaking sound.  That's scary, I'll just stand in the
    	corner near the stairs and pray some more.
    10000	Still uncomfortable with my piety, I save.

    Well played Oliphaunt there. Back on track.

    Some random ramblings about other things:

    Porter talent...hm. We can just drop stuff we don't need. And we have to be strained! to get ST up to 18, apparently. And we could have gotten +2speed or +1 more PV or +1 missile hit & dam towards more missile talents, or DV skills (shield or careful). Or even miser towards treasure hunter, even if I wouldn't go there.



    IF we run out of useful skills to train, however - put some in gardening (better than climbing, haggling, listening) or herbalism. Because, if we manage to find a herb seed, we could like, plant it. And harvest a little too. Well long shot, but more useful than haggling anyway.

    Aye, in hindsight, probably wasn't the best thing to choose going forward (especially after I even said to get Quick etc). The only thing I can say to justify it slightly was that I was holding onto very little anyway when I was doing some hit and run tactics, with only one bloody ration. And after picking up some corpses and holding onto them, I was at strained, with little to drop and trying to get away from the odd rust monster.

    Anyway, these things happen. Well done for getting out of that spot Oliphaunt, sorry for dropping you in it. It'd be nice if a decent spellbook decided to drop into our path right about now.
