I think that each class would have different standards for limited turns victories.
I would be interested to know what is a good mark, for classes like archers and
barbarians, but I was only personally interested in the overall record : ) I would
think that all magic users would have the quickest times, with wizards leading
    the pack.

Archers and other PC's that rely on missiles would probably have a higher number
of game turns than melee fighters, because of having to spend so many turns
just picking up their ammo. They could theoretically utilize the Auto_Pickup feature
to save a horde of turns, but that should probably not be used for a limited turns
    challenge.
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."

I dropped in #adom on IRCnet, though i hoped there would be more talk about ongoing ADOM games.

Instead.... well... it's really just the same as every chatroom on IRC

And so, i decided to check to see if it the laws of IRC certainty: In any given hour, the following events will occur.
    - Someone will reference how overuse of the computer adversely effects real life.
    - There will be discussion pertaining to some computer language.
    - There is always someone fiddling with the bots.
    - No fewer than 3 links to random sites will be posted.

    Yep.

Yep, well, did you really expect anything else? There's not often bot-fiddling mind. Programming on the other hand... haha, it's not just any IRC channel, but one about an incredibly geeky topic.

Discussion of current games does occur of course, especially if people are in key spectator places (Tower or D50) or in need of advice, but is by no means guaranteed.

Server is usually as smooth for me as local play. However, if more than one person is spectating, the game starts to lag extremely bad to the point it's unplayable. It's most visible when accessing inventory/spell lists etc. Anyone noticed that?

Okay, while I'm incredibly excited that ADOM has finally achieved online gameplay, I'm running into a few issues with the server.

I'm using a Nokia N800 Internet Tablet and running Open-SSH through Xterminal.

This is my how I'm entering into the server:
    ssh -l addison ancardia.ath.cx | konwert cp437-utf8

I'm doing the konwert filter so that the character drawing will be IBMgraphics instead of the Unicode (UTF-8) default. And yes, I've tried this without the additional konwert command as well.

Anyway, I'm not getting a full display of all the characters on the screen.

Here's a picture of my tablet running ADOM:

The konwert filter works perfect with the nethack.alt.org server and I'm able to use IBMgraphics with no problems at all.

Is there a reason why the dungeon walls aren't showing up? I also wasn't able to see the small cave entrance either on where my character entered, it just showed up as a blank space but I knew where it was anyway.

So first question, is the color for the cave entrance and walls within the cave once you enter inside, are they both the same?

I'm just wondering if there's some weirdness going on with my Terminal coloring.

Next question, is there any possibility of changing the menu colors? I'm getting bright yellow on my end but I would much rather prefer the darker brown, earth colors that are found with the DOS version of ADOM using VGA mode under Dosbox.

    Lastly, I'm also using:
    echo -e \033[?25l'
before logging into the server. A friend gave me that code so it would remove the cursor. It works perfect with the NAO server but not with this one. Xterminal doesn't allow for an underline cursor and a full cursor is weird since I've never played with one before. Any possible way to find a compromise on this?

Thank you for reading my painfully, long-winded post (that is, if you made it this far).

Did this server just die all of a sudden?

Nuts... And I was in such a good mood!

The server is down for an upgrade. Darn it, I need to get an ATX2.2 power supply from somewhere...

Also, I tried to check there are no active players ATM but something failed... If someone lost his game, I'm truly sorry!
