Great thing the autoroller is. Just used it today to make a wiz with decent Le and Ma plus at least average To and St. Very useful since it spares me the problem of quiting and running the game again, going through all the character menus just to have a different roll on stats.

Are you referring to the questionable nature of such a roller?

Any chance you could post the source here for us? Your server's a bit far from me, but the roller's awesome.

Sure: http://ancardia.ath.cx/~jvsalo/adom-sage-jaakkos/. It is actually a Sage patch (see roller.c) and runs in Linux. The roller screen ATM looks like this:

    Code:
Your character was rolled by ADOM as follows:

    St: rolled 13, required >= 13    [+/-]
Le: rolled 25, required >= 25 (type 2 to edit)
Wi: rolled 15, required >= 15 (type 3 to edit)
Dx: rolled 19, required >= 14 (type 4 to edit)
To: rolled 12, required >= 12 (type 5 to edit)
Ch: rolled 10, required >= 0 (type 6 to edit)
Ap: rolled 21, required >= 0 (type 7 to edit)
Ma: rolled 21, required >= 21 (type 8 to edit)
Pe: rolled 16, required >= 13 (type 9 to edit)

The roller will generate max. 50000 characters.

a - accept currently rolled character
r - reroll with current requirements
1-9 - select attribute requirement to modify
    +/- - modify selected requirement
    </> - decrease/increase max. rolls by 100

The server now transparently makes automatic backups every 1000 turns to protect against crashing. An .svg will be generated and can be restored if ADOM crashes. If you look carefully in the message buffer (:m) when the turn counter is divisible by 1000, you will see a message telling you this happened.

Similiar stuff existed before, but you had to save your game to benefit from it. Now everything is completely automatic, transparent and you don't have to exit-resume the game. You don't have to worry about the number of times your char was saved, that won't be affected (except if the game crashes, restoring the .svg is of course counted as being saved once).

    A very nice feature.

Note that players may wish to coincide giving amulets to a certain dying sage with just after a turn divisible by 1000...

There will be a command to back up the game arbitrarily.

Having some problems with Numpad, I decided to public them.
PuTTy, windows, numpad works very well on the first screen (before actually adom run), i.e. in autoroll. But after ADOM started all the buttons makes their own letters, i.e. + - [^O] (or smth like that). So on talent screen it makes me choose S instead of scrolling :-(

May be I'm just not lurked enough through this thread...
