Thank you so much for this server!

    Joy!

How long do you plan on keeping it running?

Is there any chance you could upload your server files to some place like Mediafire?

I would love to have a back up of this just in case something ever happens.

    Thank you.

Okay. I'm still hoping to get the server files if that's not asking too much for someone to upload.

Sorry. I just get nervous that it will suddenly go away some day.

Also, a few questions with co-op mode.

Two people sign in with the same user name and password and then they both share the one current character.

    Is this correct?

I so wanted two different characters playing at the same time.

I would imagine the programming for that would be stupid though.

Anyway, how do you chat between two people in co-op mode?

Lastly, what's the real point of having such a feature?

I would love to hear an example for this.

    Thanks!

there is a mirror server already. i think some parts of the source
have already been released to certain people. to my knowledge, the
only thing that is lacking is an installer package.

    > Sorry. I just get nervous that it will suddenly go away some day.

ancardia is down currently, though expected to be back up soon.
this is one nice purpose that is served by the mirror

    Yes.

    > I so wanted two different characters playing at the same time.

There used to be a feature where two players could control PC and
ACW to have a face-off. I don't know if that is currently implimented,
but i never tried it while it was available...

    > Anyway, how do you chat between two people in co-op mode?

best chat method is irc. we are on irc.freenode.net #adom

    > Lastly, what's the real point of having such a feature?

so two players can easily share the same PC. that is how the DttD
challenges work (trying to kill the other player) and community
games as well (trying to have a shared victory).
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."

Could you try to rephrase this? I'm not sure what you're saying here.

Also, I have tried playing this on my Windows XP using Putty.

I have the default keyboard setting, but once I get into a game, my Num Lock keys change and I can no longer use them for direction.

I'm not finding any Num Lock settings in the configurations files with ADOM.

    Any help on this?

    Thank you!

log on to irc and i (or someone) will help you in real time.
    forums are cumbersome by comparison.

    > I have the default keyboard setting

you have read the ancardia.ath.cx help file?
    it suggests what to change.

    "
Window -> Rows: 25 (you NEED this to launch ADOM!)
Window -> Columns: 80 (this should be the default)
Terminal -> Bell -> None (bell disabled)
Features -> Disable application keypad mode
Terminal -> Keyboard -> xterm R6 (in order to use the function keys properly)
    "

as far as discussing the merits of co-op play in theory,
    just try it.

    Thank you gut!

Yeah. I missed all of that junk. I'm sorry.

Anyway, my girlfriend decided to not pay for WoW this month so I'm looking for an RPG alternative with her.

This was my only idea since I love ADOM so much.

Off topic, is there anything that is somewhat similar to WoW and free?

I was thinking of a MUDD game but not even I am good at those. *lol*

There's Guild Wars, an online RPG which you only pay for once.

On the roguelike front ToME4 has been compared to WoW, with its ability cooldowns.

    Dammit...

I just played an entire game on the server. Just before walking away from the Drakalor Chain to win, I saved the game and downloaded the savegame so I could have the victory appear on my own hiscore too. But the save turned out to be a much much much earlier one from exp level 31. (Fortunately I did get to the server hiscore.)

Has the save been permanently lost? If not, could Jaakkos pretty please send it to me?
You hit Andor Drakon, the ElDeR cHaOs GoD, and severely wound him.
The greater balor summons some help!
The ratling duelist disarms you. You drop your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster (+36, 6d12+18) [+12, +12]. It flies to the west.
Andor Drakon, the ElDeR cHaOs GoD, picks up the blessed Trident of the Red Rooster (+36, 6d12+18) [+12, +12].
Andor Drakon, the ElDeR cHaOs GoD, wields the blessed Trident of the Red Rooster (+36, 6d12+18) [+12, +12].

I just wanted to say another special thank you to whoever still has this server online and available for us to use.
