I find I have to hold Ctrl+C and then add D as well, and you have to be kinda quick about it.Dunno if this is maybe a problem with keyboard picking up more than 2 keypresses at once...

    I just do it like that: +Ctrl, +C, -C, +D, -D, -Ctrl.

    Works everytime.
Of course it's unfair - that's the whole point.

I just hold Ctrl first, C second, D last, just like I would with Ctrl-Alt-Del. Works like a charm.
ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!

Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.

I didn't even know you could do that. When I want to switch from one game to another, I just disconnect :$

    Interesting.

It seems that I was holding down Ctrl too long before pressing the other keys. Problem solved.

It's explained on the start page.

But then, who reads manuals, anyway?

When giving the Ctrl-C, D command, you are operating the "screen" UNIX program.
Screen's manual specifies that you can detach a screen from the current terminal by giving the sequence: command character + d. The command character on the server is Ctrl+C.

The correct way to enter the detach command should be as follows:

    1. Enter the command character: +Ctrl, +C, -C, -Ctrl
    2. Enter d: +D, -D.

I have wondered where that meme originated from, I've seen it several times. Apparently it's from Shlashdot, then. My curiosity has been fulfilled :P
