one more issue, the F1 - F8 keys used to switch tactics quickly, but now instead they move the PC around. any way to make them work right, it's annoying having to press shift+t each time to change it?

From the text file again:
Terminal -> Keyboard -> xterm R6 (in order to use the function keys properly)
Be sure to save any settings in the default profile before exitting.
Another thing I advise is to set font to bold, because the dark grey in Putty is very dark indeed and can be hard to make out.
This is awesome.
I'd prefer if the restore system stayed, because of how unstable this ADOM seems to be. It's crashed twice already.
Would it be possible to add an ability to the spectators area to go back to the list of games currently in progress? It would make looking at all the different games a bit more comfortable.
Tried it, and found it too slow. Was an interesting experiment though, and
I had some fun browsing through the high score file. Seems like Grey tried
to single-handedly genocide the entire gray elven race there for a while,
but eventually landed the top spot with a drakeling : )
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."
That's what they call natural selection :P
I logged in as spectator last night, looks like there's quite a lot of experienced players on the server. One guy was getting ready for the fire temple on the top level of the Tower. Another one was on the CoC graveyard, digging up the 'great treasures' tombs and killing those liches with ease. And a third player, with a monk or beastfighter, was on D:50, hacking through chaos mutants and purple j's! Like, WOW.
You should join the chat on #adom on IRCNet - most of those games were being discussed there. Not always a friendly place, I'll admit, but some extremely experienced players on there.
Y'know it's a pity the server doesn't work too well for you, gut - some sort of race could be fun :P
Kentucky is probably about as 'opposite side of the world' as you
can get from Finland : ) When I tried it was like step... step...
step... I didn't even get to Terinyo before I'd had enough. Probably
it's more on my side of things, than the server's though.

Thanks for all the replies, I've got some things in my mind and will write a longer reply when I get myself stop playing, but just wanted to say that it's likely not a your/mine side of thing, it's just how the Internet is. It takes time for packets to travel to distant locations, also note that this doesn't necessarily mean you couldn't download/upload fast from the server (if it was a fileserver :P), as bandwidth is a different matter than round-trip times
