Default Idea for ADOM Team Competition

    Races

The Lawful team will represent the Dwarven, Hobbit, and High Elven Races.
The Neutral team will represent the Human, Grey Elven, Drakish, and Gnomish races.
The Chaotic team will represent the Orcish, Trollish, and Dark Elven Races.

    Classes:

    Lawful -

    +Paladin
    +Healer
    Beastfighter
    Farmer
    Weaponsmith
    Bard

    Neutral -

    Druid +
    Ranger +
    Elementalist
    Mindcrafter
    Merchant
    Fighter

    Chaotic -

    Necromancer +
    Thief +
    Assassin +
    Priest
    Barbarian
    Monk

+ denotes guaranteed class. Rest were randomized.

    Rules of the game:

It begins by the team deciding to generate a character. They may choose the race and the class they want to use from the list. Remember that each class may only be used once. For example, if the chaos team chooses to generate a monk, monks are removed from the list and may no longer be used.

The person who creates the character can play it for as long as he wants, with a tentative upper limit (as suggested by gut) to be 20,000 turns. Approximateing is fine. When that player is finished, he/she will post the .zip of the character, and the next player to say "i got it" will have ownership of that character for up to 20,000 turns.

You do not have to wait for a character to become available. You may choose to start another PC, so long as your team as more available. In this way, multiple PCs can be in play at once. It is up to the team to coordinate who plays which character, at what times.

Once your team has used up all it's classes, you may create no more new PCs. You must only use the ones already in play.

    - You must play as a race of your team, with a class that your team has access to.
    - No re-rolling. You will confirm what PC you are starting in your team thread, and use the starsign and rolled stats you are given.
    - No change in alignment throughout the whole game. You must stay true to your god.
    - The team that manages the most wins (or wins at all, as there might very well be 18 deaths), wins!

    Restrictions:
    - No gold abuse: Dragon Doubling, Casino gold.
    - No piety abuse, you are serving your god, not abusing him!
    - Please do not use things like the missile abuse to get away with alignment changing actions. Obviously, this may happen accidentally, but don't play a lawful and missile abuse your way into mass killing blink dogs with no alignment change, for example.
    - Changing alignment, even briefly, is a loss! You can play your character to completion, but please be honest about this. It will not count towards the score.

    Scoring

    - Which ever mean has the most wins (be it gate closures or OCGs), will be the victor.
    - In the event of a tie, a fire orb is worth 1 point and mana orb worth 1 point. The team with the most points, wins.
    - When you write out stories of your progress, try to act in a way appropriate to your alignment! This is obviously not mandatory, but just to add role playing flavor.

We would need, maybe, 3 threads for a contest such as this. One for each team.

I'd be willing to start each thread, and keep the progress updates in the first post of each thread after reading through the chaos of each thread

Ideally, interest from 9 or 12 people would be awesome, for teams of 3 or 4. That would give almost everyone a second shot at it if they get killed, or even a third if they are killed really fast.

Sounds interesting. Can we add that no one plays but one character at same time, it could be pretty dull if someone pro would play all the games of one team.

    Sounds good, count me in.

However, I think the neutral team has a lot of advantages, as most restrictions only kick in at extreme alignments.

    I'm interested.

You should reserve the healer class for lawfuls, like you've done with druid/necromancer for neutrals/chaotics.

Since the game will be more difficult for some teams, maybe this should be taken into consideration when dividing the players into teams.

Good call with the Healer. I forgot that their alignment impact at start is heavy enough that it can make neutral races start LN.

I haven't even thought about how to divide up the teams. We'll see how much interest there is first

I'm in. We should probably put the classes in tiers and make sure every team gets approximately fair shares. For instance, farmers, merchants and thieves should be in the lowest tier, while archers and wizards belong in the top tier.

EDIT: And I'd like to know why casino gold should be the only disallowed tactic - Casino gold is a late-game occurence, and hardly matters at all for matters regarding Apperance, Charisma or Merchants.

ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!

Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.

Sounds awesome. In terms of difficulty, I would say chaos >> lawful > neutral. I regularly play N PCs who don't shift alignment. However, in terms of fun, Chaos >> neutral > lawful. So despite increased difficulty, I would like to be a member of the Choas Crew, if poss.

    I'm interested.

Casino gold being the only disallowed tactic is kind of weird. At that point in the game the cost of items doesn't matter much anyway. It makes more sense to disallow dragon gold doubling, dragons can be found much earlier and their 'use' is less tedious than gambling.
