    Default Favorite programs

No, not games, programs. Please share some of your
favorite non-game applications, especially the free ones.
We'll bump the spam away yet... maybe.

My new favorite text editor is notetab light. It's free,
powerful and wonderful. I previously liked notepad++,
and still like it for some things, but I think notetab
light edges it out by a fair margin. It comes with such
handy HTML features, I'm actually thinking of trying to
make a web page myself. Here's a link:

Well. In image editing I'm a fan of Fireworks (Now Adobe Fireworks). Always have been, maybe just because it was easier to learn than PS and now i can't seem to switch =P

Free AV: Avira has two thumbs up.

Dropbox: http://www.getdropbox.com Nice little FTP tool if you share a lot of files with people you know.

Player: KMPlayer takes the prize. Highly customizeable and a very powerful tool if you know what you are doing. Never again leave something unwatched because of codec issues. (too lazy to link it)
    Wins:

    Lvl 50 Dark Elf Mindcrafter.
Lvl 50 High Elf Assassin (Dual weilding).
    Lvl 50 Dark Elf Paladin.
Lvl 50 Gnomish Assassin (Failed ultra turned normal gate closer)
    Lvl 50 Hurthling Thief (ULE).

Combined Community Codec Pack. All the codecs you could think of plus a decent enough player with a single install.

    Also, Celestia fucking rocks.
ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!

Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.

Gut, I share your love of notepad++. Thanks for the tip on notetab, I never heard of that one before and will give it a try.

What kind of software is Celestia?

I went to sourceforge to check out Celestia, it seems
to be some sort of space simulator. I was never that
into space stuff, but thought about DL'ing it anyway.
    Turns out it's ~35 MB though : (

Favourite programs... Linux comes to mind. Oh, you meant userspace programs?

Here's some of the stuff I have been using today: Vim, Python, Git, Bash, awesome3, Firefox, Thunderbird, Amarok, VLC...

Games? Spring is really awesome (nearly as good as ADOM). One of the few games that are way above the average commercial game (and yes, in terms of gameplay *and* graphics).

What? 5 seconds of downloading too much for you?
Of course it's unfair - that's the whole point.

Epythic, have you ever heard of the curious phenomenon called "dial-up"?

(At least I'm guessing gut isn't retarded enough to confuse MB with GB, which might be a bit of a stretch admittedly)

The joys of a 20mb/sec connection. But yeah...I think Gut would know the difference.

Yeah, I started with one of those too. But they are so prehistoric...

MB (Megabyte), not Mb (Megabit) and certainly not mb (millibit).

In both directions, I should add.

Yay for access to the university internet connection from home.
