is killing skeletal king really necessary? Retrieving ring could be enough. I personally would opt for frost bolt and invisibility books. Invisiblity does wonders in the cavernous levels.

Yeah, just getting the RotHK's is more reasonable.
It also might be worth scuming for a ring of -fire
or -conf because of the skeletal king's attacks.
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."
Some of this is spoily, so be warned : )
The word 'scum' means any repetitive action.
Save scumming is when a player makes a backup
of their save file, then repeatedly re-loads
it after they die. This is a naughty thing,
and should only be used for the purposes of
learning. If you win by save scumming, it's
not a true victory.
ID scumming is repeatedly climbing up and down
the staircases in the ID, generating endless
rooms, and therefore items (spellbooks). This
is something that many players do when they
want to aquire items quickly. It can also be
handy for some challenge games, that have heavy
restrictions. This scum is usually only looked
down upon because it is boring.
Roll scumming is repeatedly generating PC's,
with the hopes of getting a certain star sign,
set of stats, set of starting items, etc. This
is (or has been) done by every ADOM player in
the history of ADOM, whether they admit to it
or not : )
The turn bug is a bug in the game that allows
any player to remove turns from the game counter.
This is a horrible game bug to a player such as
myself. You see, I have spent an isane amount of
time and energy on game turn optimization, trying
to set a record for the fewest game turns victory.
Then that knucklehead Grey comes along and invents
the turn bug!
Well, now all my hard work is for nothing. Any, and
I mean ANY player can come along at any time, and
post a victory with as few game turns as they wish.
The ADOM comunity is a mostly honest group though,
and currently, no player has yet abused the turn
bug to gain entry to the Hall of Fame... except Grey
that is : )

OK, and where is the pihrana lake you speak of? Or at least, to be a little less spoily, what major landmark is it in/near?
You hit Andor Drakon, the ElDeR cHaOs GoD, and severely wound him.
The greater balor summons some help!
The ratling duelist disarms you. You drop your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster (+36, 6d12+18) [+12, +12]. It flies to the west.
Andor Drakon, the ElDeR cHaOs GoD, picks up the blessed Trident of the Red Rooster (+36, 6d12+18) [+12, +12].
Andor Drakon, the ElDeR cHaOs GoD, wields the blessed Trident of the Red Rooster (+36, 6d12+18) [+12, +12].
