    Default Please help

I have a trollish mindcrafter in the ToEF facing the ACW.
With the Bracers of War and some decent equipment (DV/PV is 79/46 on normal), I thought I could melee it but apparently that doesn't work. I shot all my arrows, zapped all my wands, and used mindcraft on it until my PP ran out. In the process, I had to drink all my healing potions out of fear that 2 consecutive energy bolts will kill me instantly (ACW has crazy speed). I managed to get to severely wounded, but couldn't finish it off. Now, it has cast several healing spells and is only slightly injured.
So, anyone have any suggestion on what I should do now?

Normally i would say get him in corridor, confuse and bash with weapon.

Unluckily mindcraft does not go from hit points so...

    RUN downstairs. Fight another day.

Use the water orb for emergency healing while you escape, as
corruption is better than death. Once out, look for some way
to disable the ACW before engaging in melee. Use a wand of
monster creation to create a meat shield, that will stop the
ACW's bolts long enough for you to get a stun/paralyze ray
to take. He should be a breeze after that.
I use polemarms when laying adom.

For now you should get out and nurse your wounds. What weapon do you have? ACW is a huge challenge to take down in melee - you need a good weapon and quite a few lucky hits. Disabling him with a potion of blindness or a wand of stunning helps significantly too.

    Thanks for the responses everyone.
I think I will let this char sit for a while for me to collect my thoughts. He is currently at 40 hp standing in a room with the ACW, so I guess the first thing to do when I load him again is to pray.
Fleeing is definitely the way to go for now. Since I still have a couple of PoUHs in my inventory, I'm not licked yet. Unfortunately, I have no means of disabling the wyrm since I have not managed to find any potions of blindness or confusion. I did try to stun it with a wand, but it shrugged off all the rays and now I have no booze to recharge it. However, I do have a wand of paralyzation, does that work?
My melee damage is the biggest problem right now. This troll started with 26 strength, and after a bunch of chair on the wall rooms, he only had 25 after I drank all my stat potions. Now, with the extremely thin corruption (first one I got), he has a measly 19 strength. My weapon right now is an adamantium spear (1d8+6), which is not the greatest of weapons. I'm wield-identifying all the spears I come across, but nothing yet.
My tentative plan of action is to get out of the tower, wander around for a bit, maybe get crowned, then come back and try to berserk the wyrm in melee. I think with my decent PV, taking on his melee attacks is better than standing at a distance and getting blasted by energy rays.

Wand of paralyzation works, but can be shrugged off, too. Not sure about berserk mode with a measly adamantium spear and laughable strength, but you can poison the spear, right?

It's probably best to make a run for it for now and re-prepare. Do you still have Big Punch? You could have a little fun in the Big Room with it, train it up to decent weapon levels and find more stuff, and use that in berserk mode. Even untrained it should work much better than your adamantium spear.

EDIT: If you were smart enough to only sell it, scum for gold to re-buy it

Teleport raiding the Darkforge could be a good idea, if you cannot take on the golems otherwise. Better weapons than that spear are pretty much guaranteed.

Darkforge worked, I found an eternium halberd there. I won't be able to wield my shield, but I guess the point of berserking is not caring about DV. I also got crowned with the Robes of Resistance, which was pretty nice. I also just remembered that I could activate mental shield, which would bring my DV/PV to 40/55 on berserk. My damage on that setting is +70 to hit, 4d7+34 damage. Is that enough for the ACW which has 50 DV and 20 PV?

I'd say yes, if you can reliably keep him confused or otherwise disabled it should be a piece of cake. Depending on how much PP you have, mental shield might not be a good idea - have a reserve of PP that can keep him confused for as long as the fight will last at a worst case scenario. If you can keep up mental shield on top of that, then it's good to use it.
