I also prefer to be neutral though, for the rest of the reasons you mentioned. Being lawful I wouldn't feel safe stepping on neutral altars, being neutral I can step on both lawful and neutral altars and that's quite handy.

The artifacts are pretty crap, and I'd much rather try my luck at getting those SoCRs.

No matter what alignment I start with I end up being Neutral. The only exception was my Avatar of Order and my failed chaos god ending. I guess this is because I somehow want my ADOM characters to reflect the me. My heart skips a bit when a new character is a brown haired, green eyed male.

How DO you always remain neutral by regular gameplay? Besides, why get an early crowning? The artefact may just be kickass, but somehow I feel that ultras are already hard to get, why ruin possibility of an ultra so early on? Besides, it's much easier to veer from N= than from either L+ and C- . Additionally, in long games, you way wanna have the 30% chaos resistance bonus that the L+ gives.

But I guess, it's not always about gameplay, sometimes it's RP. I always play human females for example. Best race and gender!

Staying N is easy - just sac gold to your deity. Late game there's little alignment variance anyway, unless you like to kill mommy dragon and the white unicorn. Staying L+ can be far more difficult without the right tools.

If you're talking to me Elone, it's the usual; abuse that amulet of order, wear an amulet of balance when doing chaotic acts and also I usually know if an act is serious enough to cause a significant drop in alignment.

I dislike being Lawful, it's a pain using Pick Pockets then and that's one skill I can't live without.

It depends much on class, for me at least. Sometimes the artifact is guaranteed to be kickass, sometimes you know it will be nothing spectacular.
You steal a scroll labelled HITME. The orc hits you.

    I weep for you!
ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!

Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.

Sometimes I do, too, I've gotten to the point where upon meeting a moloch with a level 15 character the first thought through my mind is: "Hmm, I wonder if I can pickpocket those". Not running away or crawling into a ball and crying, no sir.

Molochs aren't so bad for that actually due to their low speed. It's when you can't resist the urge to pick pocket the kitty king, archmage and Fisty that you realise you have a problem.

Well I just gave the moloch as an example, 'tis true that they pose little threat to an experienced player.

By the way, is it often that things go off-topic like this? This reminds me of another Adom forum I'm a member of...
