My headset microphone sucks burgers. Unless I figure out what's wrong with it I'm not going to make any more videos.

Well, except for the two I just did. If there is anyone who knows how to edit sound in order to get rid of crackling and stuff, could you give me some pointers?

    EDIT: Videos uploaded.

    Part 3

    Part 4

I really shouldn't make any more unless I can ensure they don't sound like crap again...

And please excuse the obscure references opening the two videos. When I'm tired I get batshit crazy ideas.

ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!

Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.

In software, I'm 99% certain that 'audacity' would have a
filter to remove crackling, and it's free/open source.

EDIT: might also want to check out 'volume normalize' : D

I have only listened to a less than a minute of part 3, but I
think the 'crackling' noise is due to your mic not having
some sort of foam between it and your mouth. You know,
like the kind on earphones. Iit seems to only happen on the
's' sound. Maybe a piece of cloth might do the trick as well.
Just need to keep your breath from 'whistling' in the holes
    in the mic. I think.

    Lovely videos.

Someone should point them to TB, he couldn't be indifferent to the Jahrod speech and surely would upgrade our fav healer (companion in CoC dive?).

Thanks for the pointers. I'm going to do some testing using the proposed methods to help ensure I get the problems dealth with. If all else fails I'll buy a new microphone.

Is there any way to get rid of the crackling in the already finished videos? Using editing software? Or is that something that filter can do?

(I sincerely doubt Thomas is going to make any changes to the Jharod situation based on my video. The quest is easily 12 years old )

EDIT: Audacity is looking good. I'll check the results after using that. If we're lucky, I can reupload video 3 and 4 slightly better-sounding.

I laughed out loud when watching part 3 - guess what part Hint - I imagine gut will furiously click "Rating: 0 stars" when he gets to that moment

Also, I don't think that crackling is too bad. I've certainly seen (or rather heard) recordings with voices that sounded much, much worse even without any crackling.

NOTE : my voice is awful, and it isn't EXACTLY a video, just captured screens put toether with comments. Yeah, it's awfully long to edit the sound to correspond to the pics. Also, note that since the comments are remade, remade, remade, they're not exactly having the same background. And my voice really changes XD. Well, i'm going to have finished it tommorow, probably. Will post it then.
