This needs some more research, but samim has announced some interesting results for fletchery testing on IRCNet. some main points:

-status of fletchery set makes little to no difference
-status of log does - blessed logs give double results
-on quarrel testing Fletchery and archer class power seemed to make no difference to yield quality (perhaps needs looking into more)
-with blessed log you get one of the following number of quarrels: 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72
    -with uncursed log you get quarrels of: 9, 13, 18, 22, 27, 31
-this means (1d8+1)*9 quarrels, halved for uncursed log
-arrows seem to give more - perhaps (1d8+6)*9 arrows per blessed log
-lower fletchery values gave same results spread, but with a chance of failure that resulted in 0 missiles. also took same length of time.
-10 turns per quarrel made, 7 turns per arrow, 5 turns per tiny quarrel - length of time is halved for level 18 archers.

Not sure where else to put this, but I tink it's important to highlight a serious piece of misinformation from gut's wizard guide! It was claimed a couple of times on the IRC channel that being Blessed (from the spell) reduces hunger rate. Soirana did some testing which showed it to be nonsense (as I expected), and when I inquired into the source of this silly rumour I found it to be... gut's guide to wizards on Silfir's guide site! Shame on you, gut, promoting this ridiculous misinformation! And shame on your for not noting the real effects of Bless, such as that all-important +1 PV.

Being 'blessed' doesn't decrease hunger rate? Wierd.
So much for the theory of gathering info from actually
'playing the game'. I wonder from where I might have
    heard advice like that?

    from your insane brain?
So far rolled 15 casters with RoDS and shamelessly killed them within 200 turns. For eternium glory!
    (after 15 I stopped counting...)

strangely cooked giant rat gives more satiation than even cooked Ogre.

I noticed long ago that I need the same amount of giant rats than cooked lizards to become "satiated" from "hungry". Its 3. But if you cook this rats you need only 2 to become satiated.

You sure about that? Ogres tend to fill me up annoyingly fast, a real nuisance if I don't have any ways to empty my stomach quickly.

It might appear it does, cause in the normal game usually one gets Blessed by crowning, and crowning decreases hunger rate from using artifacts.

I think using multiple torches isn't documented.
Also, regen items in missile slot.

Homonculus does not show up on monster memory.
Suddenly a stream of acid pours down from the ceiling! The cute dog is horribly mutilated by the acidic fluids! The cute dog dies!

    Try "homonculi".
You hit Andor Drakon, the ElDeR cHaOs GoD, and severely wound him.
The greater balor summons some help!
The ratling duelist disarms you. You drop your blessed Trident of the Red Rooster (+36, 6d12+18) [+12, +12]. It flies to the west.
Andor Drakon, the ElDeR cHaOs GoD, picks up the blessed Trident of the Red Rooster (+36, 6d12+18) [+12, +12].
Andor Drakon, the ElDeR cHaOs GoD, wields the blessed Trident of the Red Rooster (+36, 6d12+18) [+12, +12].
