Candle Drakeling Monk is probably one of the easiest combinations but I thought this one was interesting. She had terrible luck for almost the whole game.
She got poison hands as her first corruption, right after getting the water orb. Before raiding the tower, I usually dump all my stuff on D:1 and the pick up only what I need. Since I conveniently forgot both about the corruption and the fact that she was a drakeling, this marked the beginning of possibly the worst thought out Tower raid in history. As she reached the second level, the dizziness started kicking in, so she reached into her pack for.. a delicious potion of poison. Basically, I ended up on the top floor with no way of disabling the ACW, no healing except for the water orb, and two new corruptions. Not to mention my main (only) weapon was the scorched spear. Somehow slaying ammo dropped the Wyrm in a record number of turns (none of them missed) and Cascade ran off with the fire orb.
Up until now I was holding off on the RotHK until a wand of cold turned up, but since I picked Treasure Hunter the RNG didn't give me one until the Casino. I decided to go for the dive anyways and damn the Eternal Guardian. Cascade finished off the elementals still hanging around the Water Temple, and went downstairs to the Banshee level, and plugged her ears..
Or would have if I hadn't somehow lost the beeswax. I really don't how it happened. Maybe I forgot to pick it up thinking it was a bee corpse.. in fact, I don't even remember seeing a beehive at all so I might have missed it completely. Rather than scouring all the levels trying to figure out whether some goblin had picked it up, I decided to play it by ear (harhar) and stay out of range of the scream. The only problem was, the scream has a range of 3 and Cascade's vision range was 4. If the Banshee ever got a double move she'd be another lizardman (lizardwoman?) corpse on the level. Thankfully, she had a torch in her pack.. but through another moment of stupidity I forgot to check whether she had firemaking tools so it ended up just sitting in the tool slot. Helpfully, the torch was also cursed. It's a good thing she didn't have a wedding ring in her pack because I probably would have tried to use that, forgetting she was female.
Obviously she made it though.. the monk running bonus kicked in and the Banshee went down to slaying ammo. There were several more close calls after that, but I guess the RNG decided that I could probably get the character killed without its help, and started dropping artifacts left and right. BoW, Ring of Immunity, and Soaker in the Casino (although that one barely qualifies as an artifact and is about as good as an eternium-shod quarterstaff).
D:50 went smoothly, all things considered. Of course being a treasure hunter character she had exactly 0 wands of destruction, so she would have to supply the destruction herself. In any case, I generally never use the wands since the kill-everything ending is so much more satisfying. Since you made it all the way to D:50, why not show off your moves? (swapping all the way to the lever and blowing it up is not a move)
Cascade shot Fisty and took down the other balors in melee, wiped out the chaos wizards and went home for dinner, stopping at the unicorn glade to freshen up first.
