My first victory - after several years of trying.

I always start of with the cute dog quest - I can leave the dog dead and quit several
characters because the dog had died - but this time with staircases next to each other on
almost every level - and the anthill on the other side of the river - it was a doddle.
Picked up teleport control in the Druid's Dungeon along the way
Had been pumping archery, food preservation and healing at level highs - so was able to take him to the druid for first PoCC.
Went to Dwarftown after a few nervous moments in the bigroom - spidermobs got me hurt
pretty bad. Did Thrundarr quests.
Then, going down below dwarftown, surge of power, named dark orc, with GAUNTLETS OF WAR

Dwarven Halls were also very lucky - the first one was entry and exit seperated by a long
corridor, second, up and down.

After dwarven halls, first RoDS.

I had also picked up picking pockets and managed to learn detect traps before going to
the main dungeon. Shot Rehetep, went to griffyard, two shotted griff.
Then Nonnak kept hitting me with cold and I used up 2 extra heals before I realized I
had the AMW - used it, killed him and the golem.

On the way back up, bloody eye of destruction destroyed my blessed girdle of carrying.
Was at strained for a VERY long time before I tried using some potions of exchange.
Lost Willpower and perception, gained strength and toughness.

Went back down till Khelly, killed the Chaos servants, retreated - didnt want use RoDS right away.

Went to the Tomb of High Kings, down to lowest level to find I had no means of getting
across. Went to ID looking for wand of cold and found AoLS and GoGS.


Went back saved Khelly, did Darkforge- nothing good there. Stayed away from pools.
Decided to use RoDS for rings of ice, picked up cloak of invis, used it along with
successful reading of teleport to kill ACW

Went down to graveyard and found preserver, grave digging and wight eating had made
me C - fed ratling, killed Keriax and invisid went to HMV, gave GaabBay her stuff
except Monster Wand.

Tried the Rift - again lucky, little key equipment damage. Gave Filk the tome and tried
ID for WoCold - went all the way to Malakai, killed him and picked up evil sceptre
that corrupted every 6 levels of ID - and found 2 wands of cold in a white dragon
tension room on the way up.

Found another RoDS - used for wands of monster creation, gave to GaabBay and went back
to N.

Found Red Dragon Vault - gave me Protector and Wyrmlance, Ogre vault that gave me Far Slayer, crowned with Sun's Messenger

Cat Lord was weird. Got hit pretty badly, but managed to kill him (Couldnt see invisible)
by using web and arrows.

Dallied with the idea of ultra- but posters here dissuaded me with good reason.

Getting heavily corrupted - 3 corruptions in Ogre Vault alone.

Cavernous level gave me WoW with one charge, used for SoCR.

Completed BD caves, but NO NEEDLE!

IronFist uselessness gift, panicked and WoD 2nd lever on D:50 without handling it.
Wondered if I had screwed up big time, but lever reappeared after a few rounds.

Met my first balors and they taught me what fear is - surrounded by 3 of them
2 corruptions in one round and took me down from 1006 to 280.

Went to 49 to recuperate, came back and shot them. did the levers right this
time, then killed everyone on the level :)

I was walking in a daze the whole of that day.

Just one question about the Blue Dragon Quest.

I lured Sraxxarrakex(sp?) to the level above and killed him. Could that be why
I didnt get Needle?

Even if I missed out by not IDing it, it should have appeared in the generated
artifact list?

Yep. He told me not to bother him as he was meditating on things of great consequence or something - basically told me to get lost.

I'm pretty sure I talked to him. Otherwise do you get the achievement of defeated the enemy of an ancient karmic wyrm?

I was level 47, I think. Is that the reason he doesnt give needle?

Usually the first win opens up your mind to the machinations of
ADOM, and further wins become a tidbit easier to achieve :)

Until you do something stupid like fight a mad mama dragon who panics in darkness so you follow the direction you think she went, only to reach the side of your darkness and find she is actually blind raged and kicks your ass in one round. But in general, it should be easier. :)
