The second instalment of my doomed PC series comes as a doomed archer. Archers were the class that I got my first win with, and I remembered them being a lot of fun, but I haven't played one in ages. And wow, archers are amazing. Early game was surprisingly easy despite being doomed (well, compared to the barbarian and my numerous attempts with a ranger); killed Kranach and crime lord early on, used barbarians + archer arrow dodge power to stock up like crazy with arrows when I got low. Did puppy cave, killed dark druid then headed to CoC. Found Hammerhead in a random lesser vault, found early bookshop and lots of herbs, cleared Pyramid and Darkforge easily. Added crown of science for double dooming. A lot of the problems I've had with other doomed PCs were non-issues: equipment destruction wasn't nearly so bad, I never even bothered with paralysis resistance (didn't find free action until Casino anyway), and stat drains were never really a problem. Presumably this is just a manifestation of the unbelieveable imbalance between melee characters and shooters/casters.

Cleared my way down to wall of flames and killed the snake. DH had a (greater? don't remember) titan room that I was meaning to go back and visit but never got around to. With water orb in hand, I headed to ToEF. Cleared it by teleporting quickly through low levels, opening the temple and pummelling the Wyrm with arrows. I had about 10 extra bows courtesy of some barbarians, so whenever one would burn away, I'd just load another. Casino yielded robes of resistance and a motherload of slaying ammo, and a whip of the snake, which I used for the better part of the endgame. Cat lord fell easily to webs and humanoid slayers. Two greater undead vaults in the lower levels, one also had a surge of power in it, which I managed to grab off of a named chaos servant (crown of leadership), but I left the rest. Air temple was a bit of a pain since there was a huge tension room of ancient black dragons outside of it (managed to ignore most of them), and I couldn't use my bows, so I was stuck killing things with Hammerhead and my spell reptoire, which was pretty extensive by this point. Summoner went down to repeated iceballs. Earth temple dropped to construct slayers. Mana temple fell to machine-gun arrows, and humanoid slayers for the archmage. Got cleansed, then dug through D:50, but then went on to kill all of the balors. With blessed slayers, they were no match for me--even Fisty fell in 3 hits.

Score seems pretty low for a closer with as much experience as I have. Not sure why. Low piety maybe.

Really? Your Wi is 30+.. I remember clearing a greater undead vault with a level 50 archer myself. From what I remember, my Wi was lower than yours, though I wasn't doomed of course. It wasn't that hard.. I used the following strategy. I noted that most of the higher liches were standing close together and lined up. First, staying at a safe distance from the liches, I used normal arrows and the class power + farsight to clear a spot next to the liches. Then I teleported next to them and shot a berserked undead slaying arrow through the line.. I remember seeing lines like "You exactly hit the master lich and destroy him. You exactly hit the lich king and destroy him. You exactly hit the lich king and destroy him. The master lich summons some help!"

Well, according to sorear's luck (http://it-is-law.com/adom/index.php?title=Luck) and spellcraft (http://it-is-law.com/adom/index.php?title=Monster_Spellcraft#Confusion_.2823 .29) data, my effective Wi would not be 31, but 31 + 6 (leadership) + 1d9-1 (ankh) - 3d5 (doom) - 2d2 (curse), which works out to ~29. At 29 Wi, I'm >99% resistant to master liches, 99% resistant to lich kings, and ~80% resistant to an emperor. But if there's 1 emperor and 10 kings hitting me, I'm still getting confused every other turn, more or less, but confusion can easily last more than 1 turn...

The other vault was worse, having 12 emperors. I didn't bother to touch that one.

have you tried to bit down the arena all the way through the end while being doomed/cursed? just wonder what will it spawn.

After winning the arena, monster spawned are essentially random. I've seen ancient dragons, molochs and the like, with undoomed PCs. For a doomed PC, it will probably just be that they will be more experienced.

I think one of my earlier doomed PCs did the arena to the end. Worst he had to deal with was a diamond golem.
