View Full Version : YAVP: Gray Elven Wizard first win

So this PC was my first ever to reach the ToEF and i when on to win without any hassles. After playing on and off for 3 years (only this year very seriously) it feels really good to have a win even if it did seam a bit easy after all the stories i read here on the forum. I knew the PC had potential when my invisibility wore off in the ToEF and for a few hundered turns i didn't even notice. I guess the what did it was getting crowned with the robes of resistance just before the tower.

Previous to this my best was compleating the water temple with two other PCs. Only scary momment was the mana temple being not prepared with enough healing and being critical hit twice in a row. D50 was handled by Acid bolt and arrows to clear the lever rooms then drawing out the balors one at a time. I feel like the biggest factor in getting far is just not doing stupid shit duing the mid game, late game you have a lot more options for recovery.


I think now that i have won once i'll try necromacers as they have been the reason i havn't made it far before now. I like to play them as they just have a style about them.

Looks to me like he loves them plenty. 21 To is quite above natural for gray elven wizards. Same for 23 Wi. Possibly he just didn't get enough the first time and didn't give enough of a shit to go back and pluck more.

I did use herbs a bit but i was always moving somewhere new so i wanted to equip the robes of resistance which prevented further To increases with herbs. In the end i didn't need it anyway.

Willpower was a problem as i had been using the orb to get above 32 for ball spells which i didn't have for D50 i may consider hanging on to my potions of gain attirbutes a bit longer next time till after i find herbs.
