This character's early game was rough and annoying. No shops, nothing handy in the guaranteed shops, no good ego gear, rivers all over the place, and I foolishly wrenched the only charge out of the guaranteed Wand of Teleportation when I retrieved the Scrolls from the HMV.

My first corruption was Corrupted Tissue, which made me hesitant to get in any fights at all--all hits potentially draining Dex is not cool for an Archer, and I did lose several points of Dex this way. I also didn't want to go into corrupting areas without finding more Chaos Resistance because I didn't want a nasty corruption like that getting buried. I ended up making an automated Gremlin Bomb in D:8, almost more for amusement than any expectation of usefulness. I mined out the whole level, but I couldn't smith because I needed Kherab's anvil and I didn't want to get my Dex ravaged by golems in Darkforge. I did have teleportation control and I was precrowned with Preserver ( :cool: ), but I had no way to teleport.

At least the pyramid was easy, and at least I got crowned with Lightning. Of course, I also got Thunderstroke. :(

I resolved to beat the RNG, so I dug out an audiobook and spent quite a few real-life hours stairhopping. I had terrible luck on Potions of Exchange and teleportation items (while jumping between level 6 and level 7), and when I did get a Wand of Teleportation I determined that Darkforge was full of junk (at which point I did a ton more stairhopping). At least I was rich.

I eventually worked up a lot of Potion of Gain Attributes and nice spellbooks (but still only a couple of Potion of Exchange), so I decided to smith for a while then take out the Bug Temple. I collected loot from my Gremlin Bomb and found--

A Ring of Djinni Summoning. :D

I saved Khelly, cleared out the CoC down to the wall of fire, did my smithing, cleared the Bugs, got the Ring of the High Kings, got the fire orb, and dipped a stack of Rings of Acid Resistance in a Potion of Exchange with no expectation of success. After three dips I had 19 Rings of Djinni Summoning. :o

Needless to say, I was getting tired of this character and I felt drunk on power. I decided to knock out the Blup quest real quick just in case I wanted the Trident later. The cave had my first pair of Seven League Boots and yet another Ring of Djinni Summoning. Uh... OK...

I marched to D:50 spraying arrows. Virtually nothing slowed me down, and after I found lesser vaults with Bracers of War and Nature's Companion precisely nothing slowed me down. Indeed, a tension room full of Greater Molochs ensured that I had the final two (scary as hell!) Archer powers in short order, and there were two more Rings of Djinni Summoning plus a Wand of Wishing. There was so much slaying ammo for sale in the Casino that I never bothered to dig anywhere on D:50, I just walked in shooting and everything promptly died.

A way of acquiring tons of items, exploiting the fact gremlins drop them and multiply when they come into contact with water.
