Hey Guys!
I won with a beastfighter now! My first character that won with dangly bits between their legs! ;P
The Game Started pretty normally! I went to the Small Cave and went right on through to the High Mountain village, getting a nice Waterproof Blanket along the way!
This meant I couldn't save the puppy, which was an unfortunate loss. I also talked to the little girl, cause last game, Even though I brought a wished for cute dog to the little girl at the end, the game didn't say anything about bringing joy back into her life at the end.
Alright! So, things I did!
First. Never went to the ID. It just never came up.
Anyways, Went down the Main Dungeon, with no probs. I talked to the Dwarf Chief, and had to slay a harpy. I tried to tame the big room, but just didn't have enough doors or any way to dig so it was a no go. I killed a harpy, and continued onward, taking the DH route, where I had no problems. Once I got back, I had a few more wands and eventually managed to box in a bunch of Jellies in the Big Room. I Sacrificed a bunch of Somafillia, and got my stats up to 25! At some point I found a ring of Genie Summoning without knowing it, since I learned to read instead of getting my items identified and saved my only identify scroll. Then I finished the Dwarf Quests.
Then I went and I did the Pyramid, the Graveyard, and Skeleton King in one go, and came on back. I got crowned with immunity to Lightning And The Bracers Of War. I was stuck at L for a long time till I asked here, and I found out that if I just used a blessed amulet of Order, and went to the wilderness it would make me L+.
I had a real problem for the longest time, of having no water and no scrolls of identify! I had one scroll I used once, after I could read, and that was it. I started pickpocketing monsters in the Graveyard, and any monsters I could on the way down, which was lucky cause I got a wand of Djinnie(sp?) summoning one time! :)
So then I went down! Killed the Snake in Melee, without any real problems. He didn't even run for once, which was nice.
Now, I had no real strategy for the Tower. I had the PV talents, which would help, but no slaying ammo, and no stun wands. I just decided to roll with it, and used the elemental gauntlets, a ring of fire resist, and the High King's ring to get me through. It worked alright, till it was boss time!
The Top level was tough! As always. I had to heal several times. Eventually the Dragon came up to me, and I threw a potion of wonder at him which confused him! Unfortunately he wandered off into the middle of his pack of buddies, which was no good. So I kept fighting, and gained a few corruptions, like Very Light, and Thin. He finally came back to me and we just straight up wailed on each other till he died! I came close to dying but got healing from my God twice I think, and the water orb once or twice. Sometime afterwards I found a girdle of Giant Strength which was nice.
I used one wish not long after to get some scrolls of Chaos Resistance, and got rid of the mana battery corruption.
So I went further down! Nothing special in the Casino, but it finally gave me some holy water and scrolls of identify. I went further down and
managed to kill the Cat lord by using a wand of webbing. I tried arrows, but kept missing, and eventually he just got stuck good so I went and beat him down.
Afterwards I decided on checking out the Ancient City! VERY neat place, I approve! It was easily the coolest place in the game, with the sneaky walls, and paths, and traps. I got all the way down I believe, and found a Minotaur emperor. Now my stats were no joke at this point, But I do believe a minotaur Mage(?) drained 7 points of Strength in one spell! :( Anyways, I webbed the Emperor, then just on a whim tried a wand of paralysis with one charge on him. It worked! First time ever the wand worked for me! I beat him down, took his stuff, and left.
Then I went to the rift. Nothing special really. I lost some extra potions and a wand or two, but nothing important. It took me a while to figure out where to go and I finally headed to the Library. Lots of scrolls there, but nothing special. I also found a LOT of books, but the only one I tried to read was the Strength of Atlas. It took quite a few tries, but I got it. I talked to the Librarian on the way out, and delivered the Special Tome to the Mad Minstrel for some more Scrolls.
At this point the Game decided to be nice to me. Going down I ran into a Greater Giant Vault, and got about 2 or 3 points of strength back. I also found a potion of gain attributes, cure corruptions, and a scroll of chaos resistance! Going down farther I found another Scroll (Can you believe it?), and another Cure Corruption potions! Very nice, because there was no way this guy could deliver corpses to Guthalak! They rotted away in just a few turns every single time. No food preservation! I fought my way through a Black Dragon Vault, which was kind of a pain, mostly because they kept destroying my items! I dropped my stuff in a corner part way through so it wouldn't dissolve.
Alright, so no probs right? NOT SO FAST! On D:40 I hit a random teleport trap which I kid you not put me INSIDE a tension room of Chaos Wizards!
;_;
I lived, but it was a troubling thing. And the Game wasn't through with me yet. On D:42 I got stuck between a Beehive and A Vault of Red Dragons, and they hurt a lot. The boss, a Red Wyrm, nearly killed me several times. Once normally, then he got a crit later, then he went berserk and fought. I got very lucky surviving I think.
Next up, Level 43. Boxed in by a mixed tension room, which wasn't so bad except for the chaos wizard and the Moloch that came after me. I killed him, then the chaos guys that go summoned, before I reached the Wizard.
Air temple was no problem when it happened. I did what I usually do, which is to leave almost everything on the floor above, put on some invisiblity, and march on in there. The boss was a joke.
Earth Temple though, did not fall for that trick! I opened the first door on that level and walked right into a "deserted shop!" Um, no. I shut the door, read a scroll of magic map, and tunneled around! Then I went to the Earth Temple and quite quickly found out the monsters there can see invisible just fine thank you very much. I was nearly killed several times in what seemed like an endless battle with me surrounded. I made it out but it was a near thing.
Mana temple next! It was rough, as usual. I at least was able to detect all the traps with my Skill before went in. The lights went off, and I had no Tinder to make a torch work, and no lights! I started to leave and figured I would use a wish to get some kind of light when the boss followed me in the hallway! Even though he turned off the lights, I was able to kill him, praying for healing twice. It was VERY convenient!
Alright! Last battle time! I marched right in the last level and went to work! Gained about 20 levels in the process! The Balors were a pain at level 40, but not at level 45 or higher really! Somehow at this point my strength was beyond ridiculous, being about 55 to 60 depending on corruptions. I killed almost everything one at a time, and used my last wish for wands of devestation. I closed the handles and blew them up, and then fought a lot. I got the nice ability to switch place with monsters, which let me get close to the Chaos Wizards and kill them. I think Every Melee guy should get that ability.
Anyways, it came down to an invisible me, versus Fistanarius, plus all the random animals he summoned. They couldn't see me so I left them alone. I used some demon slaying ammo, which nearly all missed, which begs the question, how? I read the Description, Balors are supposed to be Gigantic, how is it possible to miss them in a narrow hallway? Anyways, just to add to the Chaos I summoned some Wolves and Bears which was fun. I ran out of Ammo, but was level 50 and just beat Fisto to death with my hands! Very nice!
Afterwards I still had about 5 scrolls of Chaos Resistance, and read a few, then gathered up all the gear, keeping the nice stuff. I left the dungeon, saved the White Unicorn, and left, becoming a king of all the dwarves! I'm sure I sent Thrundarr off to slay a giant rat to prove his valor :D
