Hi Guys. Was just curious if any of you have heard of or are already following the development of Trials of Ascension ( http://trialsofascension.com ). It's planned to be a sand-boxy MMO, no levels, all skill-based game with, and here's the part I thought might be most interesting to you guys, permanent death of your character after a certain number of deaths (to account for lag and give you some time to actually develop your character before having to start a new one). The developers made a go of this 10 years ago in 2002, worked on the game for several years, but could never secure funding because investors at the time only wanted to invest in safe bets (like WoW and other EQ clones). Now that crowd-sourcing has become a viable method of acquiring capital, they're trying again. They're in "pre"-development now and trying to build hype so they can launch a Kickstarter with a good chance of success. If you've ever looked at MMOs and thought they were too easy and that there was no real risk, then I'd definitely recommend checking them out!
