In case anyone is interested, I've* collected the weapon skill numbers for all the currently available melee weapon types up through level 18, and posted it on the wiki (http://adom2.wikidot.com/weapon-skills). Many fire giants died to bring us this information ;)

*Thanks also to Iron Cash who contributed to this page in the past.

For those interested in level 18 comparisons (this is slightly misleading since not all weapon skills cost the same):

Weapon Type HitMod DamMod CritProb CritMult DVMod
Axes(1H) +22 +20 +4% +3 +5
Axes(2H) +45 +34 +6% +4 +4
Blunt(1H) +22 +14 +9% +3 +8
Blunt(2H) +30 +21 +9% +3 +5
Daggers +24 +14 +6% +2 +5
Polearms(2H) +24 +14 +4% +4 +26
Staves +24 +14 +2% +2 +50
Swords(1H) +22 +14 +6% +2 +8
Swords(2H) +22 +34 +6% +4 +8
Unarmed +15 +16 +4% +3 +12

Level 18 ranged weapon comparison:

Weapon Type HitMod DamMod CritProb CritMult RMod
Bows +34 +25 +6% +3 +6
Slings +25 +34 +4% +3 +4

Very nice work!

For anyone except pure monks, I find myself choosing between staves for massive DV or 2-handed blunt for good critical chance and damage.

Two-handed axes look a bit better than blunt to me.

Finished up ranged weapons with the exception of boomerangs as well.

My reasoning is that because critical hits deal so much more damage than normal hits, the chance of crits is the most important stat on a weapon. Also, great large clubs are easy to scum with disarming, so finding a large wooden great club of devastation is somewhat possible. Then again I'm biased toward trolls (even though I still hate them in Adom 1).

Axes' higher damage combined with higher crit multiplier could lead to a significant damage difference on critical hits. The difference in to-hit bonus is considerable as well, but it's hard to argue against higher crit chance. Blunt weapons also deserve special mention for being the only one-handers with good crit stats.

but if you have a slaying weapon its 100% crits, so i would suggest that to hit or DV is more important long term?

There are no slaying weapons in adom 2. At least not yet.
