This guy entertained me while I was recovering from an anoying flue the last days... and he did a really good job! Too bad he did not get a wish during his whole adventure, otherwise I would have tried to go for an ultra. During big parts of the game he had no problems at all after he found his first two-handed sword. He wore the ancient mummy wrapping till the very late game, found an eternium two-handed sword in darkforge and got a ring of ice in the high mountain village. On his desperate hunt for a wish he killed the great water dragon mommy at lvl. 19 which brought him to lvl. 25 at once. Finally he got crowned with Grod, onehitted the ancient chaos wyrm and descended further. In the temple of air he stupidly got his seven league boots destroyed and walked a little slower afterwards. The most dangerous situations were a master mimic who punched him down from 460 to 30 hp in a single turn and an ancient red wyrm who got him from almost 700 to 50 in one turn. Luckily he got some great slaying amunition which enabled him to clear a greater fire creatures vault, where he found the Far Slayer and the Bracers of War. The rest was quite easy... he just needed two tremendous blows for each ordinary Balor... what a beast! Corruption was also no big issue. He got four scrolls and three potions and well, one scroll and all the potions were not even used. The three scrolls got him rid of several mana batterys. Finally he did the unicorn quest and left the Drakalor chain. An interesting fact by the way, I think this was my first winner without Treasure Hunter... and he was constantly lacking holy water. Drank his last two potions of gain attributes unblessed.

After he leaves the Drakalor Chain he is welcomed by his people with great
honors. They acknowledge his noble deeds, his valor, his cunning and his
great skills that helped to prevent the complete destruction of the world he

Well, they were all from D45 downwards and the next neutral altar would have been dwarftown... lazy ;-) And of course after the greater vault on D46 I was very positive that he would be successful anyway. However, it was quite interesting that I actually had to decide which items to bless and which not. For example I saved one holy water for D50 for the case that I found a ring of djinni summoning and had to bless it.

Ah I see. In case you run into this problem again, you can solve it with potion dipping on D:2, see here:

Doing it on D:2 is just as safe because PoRC is DL 8 so they can't explode there. The drawback is that you lots of water out of it and less booze and potions of exchange, but sometimes this can be an advantage. ;-)

Also the earth temple altar is very safe to convert, I usually to that for the purpose of blessing potions deep in the CoC.

You can also bless water by dipping stacks of 4(or fewer, but less efficient) uncursed/cursed water into holy water. Especially handy in deep ID dives and as you said when altars are scarce.
