Hi,

ADOM 1.2.0 Prerelease 17 is now available (http://www.ancientdomainsofmystery.com/2013/10/adom-120-prerelease-17-is-now-available.html).

Please check Thomas' announcement for the details. The new "animation mode" is still experimental and has some known problems (like the PC walking "through" walls). We are aware of them and hope to be able to fix them soon. If you don't like it you can disable it and get the old behavior from Prerelease 16 back.

Have fun!

non-noteye Pre17 Windows, on Win7 64-bit: "The program can't start because regex2.dll is missing"
Copying it from the noteye version makes it start tho.

* The new keymap help display is very welcome!
* "Back" command in (parts of) character creation is pleasant

Thanks, I added the missing DLL to the archive. You can also download it directly from the download page.

Thank you very much, can't wait to see the Sage features in effect :)

I noticed the text color in the manual index is gray instead of the usual brown, is that intentional?

Later edit: Exit_After_Death=True and Exit_After_Quitting=True don't seem to return to 1.1.1 behavior, the game shows a menu asking me what I want to do if I die or quit.

Yes, the color change of the manual index was intentional, it is more visible and "in line" with the keyboard command list.

what kinds of changes do people make in the .cfg and .kbd files that thomas mentioned?

Well, I set Random_PC to true, Fated_Gender to true, Metric_Measuring to true, Fast_More to true, Questioned_Attributes to false.

I have only edited the kbd file on the server, cause my numpad wasn't working.

The gender and race of your PC is now always visible and you can also go back if you chose wrong.

Is there any way to make NotEye remember the gfx options you set in-game? Currently they don't seem to be saved when you change them. Not a big deal, you can still edit config.noe, but it would be nice to be able to save them automatically.

EDIT: /me puts on some glasses and sees that 'S' option allows to save changes to config-adom.noe. Duh!

Got an issue with NotEye: the game crashes with message "did not yield [./common/fonts.noe:22: attempt to call local 'adjuster" (a nil value)] when trying to maximize the window after having resized it (need to kill the process from task manager). After that, I can't launch adom.exe anymore: the window seems too big for the screen and garbage is displayed until it crashes again and I have to kill the process manually.

EDIT: I can reproduce the problem constantly by doing the following (don't know what provokes the error though... minimap? extra lines? config-adom?)
- go to the NotEye gfx menu (ctrl-m)
- change minimap mode to ascii and reserve 5 lines for minimap and messages
- press s to save changes to config-adom.noe
- maximize the window
- restore the window

Removing config-adom.noe is the only way to make things work again.

Exit_After_Death=True and Exit_After_Quitting=True don't seem to return to 1.1.1 behavior, the game shows a menu asking me what I want to do if I die or quit.

Ok, these configuration parameters were implemented before we the "victory/death" menu was added. I'm probably going to remove them since they are not needed anymore.

TB mentioned changes to the Casino, has anyone figured out what they are yet?

Where did he mention that, I cannot find it?

It's listed as "Casino Enhancement", and as far as I know its about Zeno and Jochen having fun with tile mode, rather than any game mechanic changes.

I just had the following event take place in pr17.

"The pixie fingers your pockets. Your purse feels lighter. The pixie chuckles with hateful glee as the god of thieves immediately takes his share!"

I have been pickpocketed several times in pr16 and this didn't happen, so I guess it's a new addition and pixies are slightly more dangerous now. :p

The minimap display changes into animated slot machine 'rollers' with pictures of what you roll. It's awesome! Also, animated tiles for the slot machines in the dungeon.

Ooh, I like the graphical version of ADoM now. I actually feel very comfortable in tile mode now, well done Team ADoM.

Sorry bout double post. How do I do sage, it is incorporated yes? I can't find it though, I've never used sage, but would like to now that it is part of the game.

Edit - I'm Assuming I need to edit the MSG file. Is it safe to edit it with window's notepad? NVM, I'll just make backup.

Edit2 - No, I'm clueless. It seems to be setup correctly by default, but I don't get any coloured text in game.

Jeez. Triple posting, hey. Any hints as how to activate sage features would be appreciated.

"Sage" features are enabled by default, just make sure your adom.cfg contains the line:

Colored_Messages=true

Check this link for the detailed Sage Readme (https://github.com/AlucardZero/adom-sage/blob/master/README). Please note that not all of the features are implemented in ADOM right now.

auto swap with neutral does not work (http://i.imgur.com/QNuh8DH.png) in Windows (Noteye or not), at least. But there's something odd going on here? Sometimes it works on Linux p17 Debian 32-bit, sometimes it doesn't (no Sage). I haven't seen it work at all on Windows.
Colored messages do NOT seem to be enabled by default in Noteye Windows, but once I added Colored_Messages=true to adom.cfg and restarted the game they showed up (http://i.imgur.com/VvEEWAD.png).

ADOM does not update the existing adom.cfg if you start a newer version. This is why we always recommend to start with a clean "adom.data" directory. The new config files written by ADOM should contain the flags needed for "colored messages" and "auto swap neutral". The same is true for the "repeat last command" which is stored in adom.kbd.

ah, okay, those have config flags too.

Oh, cool! Zeno and Jochen did some really neat work smoothing out tile mode, was wondering if anyone even noticed ;)

Yeah, for a whole day I've been only using tile mode. I think I'll play a full game in it to see all the tiles.

Can you possibly remove the weapon(sword on ratling) from a beastfighter's hand. They are unarmed specialists after all.

We can probably improve the handling of config files. But starting with a new config files makes it easier for us. ;)

I know that's a pretty huge immersion breaker, but it's not planned at the moment. I might get around to doing all classes if I run out of things to do ;) but it'd still only be a crutch. We'd still get mages with a staff when the PC is in fact wielding a sword, and players rightfully complaining about it. What we really need is a system where the PC image shows what you're currently wearing and wielding, but we haven't moved beyond the "we'd like to do it sometime in the future" stage.

But we would finally know how you can shoot missiles or hold a torch in the tool slot while wielding two shields! :D

Is there a way to disable the "square" in the minimap? The square that outlines your current viewing area.

Let me put it this way: I don't need it and it is slightly in my way. :)

Would it be too difficult to readd them in order to allow 1.1.1 behavior? The "do you want to see the last messages before your death" prompt (with those words) is iconic of ADOM, and it'd be a small shame to lose it :p

I'm not liking this change, I found the brown more pleasing. I'd rather have the other way around (keyboard command list brown). It's a very nitpicky personal opinion, I know.

Or maybe have just the brackets surrounding the letters brown. It goes really well with the yellow letters and it feels really weird to have grey right next to them instead.
