Same Name, Different Game: L, the Hurthling Bard

When it rains it pours. My wins like to come in pairs. This was my closest: I beat the game on the 2nd. And also the 5th.

I give my characters the name of the letter of the last initial talent they pick. Most are named B. Strangely both winners were L.

Note: This is not actually the gear that I wore most game. I just thought it was interesting that I had an artifact for almost every slot. All except Bracers, Boots, Tool, and Missle (I sac'd the black torc)

I actually talked to the Water Dragon. And forgot to tell blup. I realized this after level 36 on D50. I never did go back and tell him. So I was without my favorite tactic of throwing spears at Balors and Undead. I was meleeing them the ghosts until two hits put me and very old. I then used my uselessness gift - whirlwind. Fortunately there were enough rocks generated. ALL of my range weapons were destroyed earlier - I dug the wall and threw Si's on D49.

Wore my original seven league boots all game. Never destroyed.

All I can say is that at the upper level bard get Silly good. Double health/pp regen then super stat bonus is amazing.

Assuming you had lucky and fate smiles from your deity and wore the Ankh at the time (and kept it that way), Celestrix is a very good artifact. It seems like people way overestimate the effects of dooming that you get from it. It more than balances it out with the intrinsics it gives and DV/PV.

Well. I won, so it's not like I particularly needed it. I've gotten it before and it left a sour taste in my mouth. Mostly because I put it on in the tower and it burned up my blankets. I'm also scared of dooming because I've been saved by the 1hp many times and I was under the impression it counts against that. I wore preserver (thus no ahnk) and the catlord ring so I would have had good luck. I just don't know how much each weighs on the luck scale so it worries me.
