I was doing so good lol. Im still new so this was my highest score up to that point. Guess I'll be more careful next time.

If you think that's bad, wait until you get to a high level with a wizard (or any pure spellcaster, really). Some unexpectedly high percentage of powerful, endgame spellcaster deaths are commonly caused by killing oneself with a misfired magic missile. I did it to myself with a troll wizard once, and am afraid to use magic missile now.

By the way, are you playing the game unspoiled, or are you looking at a guide or the wiki (or anything outside of the game)?

The room proportions look like they're designed so you end up shooting yourself with powerful enough magic missiles. Bolts seem to circle round to their starting square regardless of position and direction fired (unless it voices through a doorway :-P)
