Unique chat dialogue

So I've only recently started playing Adom and I got this unique dialogue option when chatting to a ratling vendor on the arena level in the Caverns of Chaos, and it went along the lines of them saying they were lonely and wanted to chat. You could choose yes or no to give them company, but there doesn't seem to be any purpose to it. Does this train charisma when you select yes, or is it just some joke function added in? It only occurred once so far, so it seems like either a charisma option that doesn't allow you to abuse training it, or just a random joke function like many of the fortune cookie messages.

It can happen with any NPC, rarely and randomly. They can also ask for food.

I think the only effect is a small lawful boost. Spending time with a NPC consumes some time in the game, which might not be acceptable if you're in a hurry.
