I've had a rather long work day today, and it's still March 31st here... so you got me at first. :D

With that said, I think there is some truth to the faux-statements attributed to Zuckerberg... Facebook, Google and the other big players have become so powerful to the point they can just buy any potential competitor or asset. And even the biggest idealist/hobbyist/"hippie" would have a hard time turning down a billion dollars.
