I got the Arch-mage ending (being able to book-cast wish(infinite wishes!)). So I figured I might as well not waste it. I'm going to see how deep I can get in the infinite dungeon and see what it's like down there.

I'm going to mainly descend via book-casting magic map and teleporting to the stairs http://i.imgur.com/fD104yf.png

Also, if you're new and don't know why wizards are the most over-powered class http://i.imgur.com/LXtROTE.png

I'm going to post any significant depths or anything I find interesting, like monster stats via stethoscope.
(I cant believe I spelled infinite wrong in the title and I can't change it)

Things move once after I move 10 times usually. Yeah, I wanted to get crowned before I went in, but I accidentally killed one of those worms that spawn from the corruption with an acid ball and it took me out of L+ and I was too lazy to get it back before going down.

Don't worry, once you get below I:1000 or so, monsters will start to get very dangerous. Death ray is your friend.

Not trying to give you a hard time, but why such low DV/PV? You worked so hard to perfect stats and such, why not max out your equipment more?

I actually intended to max out my equipment, but it slipped my mind. If it becomes a problems I still have my infinite wish engine. But I'll only do that if it becomes a major problem, since every wish takes away 10 stats, I could just wish for 99 potions of gain attributes again, but that's a pain. I'm mainly avoiding monsters

AFAIK and as I read in guidebooks Infite dungeon has somethig like integer(int in programming). So it might be 2 to power 16. 65 thousands of level to discover. And after that? You will get out where you entered. Happy journey and good luck.

I believe it's a signed 32-bit number which would mean it has a maximum of 2147483647 levels, which is massive, I want to see how deep I can get, I guess we'll see if 65535, (32767 signed) is it when I get there

You were right, according to Adom Guidebook for version 1.1.1 :
The Infinite Dungeon (ID) is truly infinite for all practical purposes. The level number is limited by some 32 or 64 bit integer value, but who really cares about that?

For you to make this journey easier try to tame some large dog with bones. So spoken get a familliar, step behind him, he will get attetion of most monsters or traps, and you could make him to attack somebody.

Either its - int(16-32), or big int(64): good luck.

This deep in the ID it honestly doesn't matter all that much. The monsters are so experienced that even with pretty crazy DV/PV, you probably won't survive more than a round against them. Better off just being very fast, teleporting, and wearing an AoLS as a backup.

Apparently monster levels cap out at 999, so the difficulty should level off somewhere around, from the looks of it, I:10000. Not that is particularly much help, of course ;)

Probably coincidentally, but my cursory searching suggests I:10000 is about the lowest anyone has ever gone without cheating (ie. using exploits or macros to descend faster). I suspect that boredom is probably the issue more than anything else. An immortal, elf, archmage, necro should pretty much be able to survive indefinitely.

Yeah, I'm trying to do at least 1000 levels a day and see where it goes from there, 10000 shouldn't be too hard to beat.

Yeesh, level 200+ monsters are terrifying. Vortices exploding covering half the level, everything else getting 100+ damage per hit and dozens of hits? Wow.

(by the way, how the heck do you have 10,000 speed!? I think the highest I've ever had on a player character was something like 300-something with an overheating drakeling... but even the high-end quicklings I've seen aren't 10,000+ fast.)

Wish engine, I ended up wishing for about ~1500 potions of quickling blood. I was really bored and wanted to see how high I could get it. I think speed soft-caps at around 1000 though, since I never noticed monsters moving slower after that point.

Well, it actually hard caps - don't remember where it was explained adom manual probably - game has certain "segments" [for calculating action sequence] and one can not have more than one action per segment.
Segments are mostly to calculate energy points so reducing energy cost also don't go through cap, just helps to reach it earlier.

[QUOTE=DoshDoshington;96446]4000, I've "died" about 20 times now

how exactly are you dying ... assuming you have low energy points usage you will always act 1st and you have insane speed so how are monsters able to even hit you to do damage?
also i agree that aging attacks are your worst nightmare. but also corrupting attacks? i can imagine a high lvl wmopc hitting you till YOU become one.
anyways itll be glorious if you were to reach lvl 10000.

The monsters move about once every 10 of my turns, I'll die maybe once every 100 levels or so, since there's always a chance that when I teleport on the stairs it will be right when a monster's about to move.
I'll actually get around one corruption from dying to a corrupter.

Its actually around 70, but the +24 and +10 from the TotRR and Mana orb boost it, it tends to stays high because I need to use the mana orb to refill my mana pool for wishes and teleports, and each use gives you +3 mana.

Wait, what? There must be some dread corruption down there with the gate still open, no?

Also, how long does 1000 levels a day take? I just did the SIL for the first time and that was bloody tedious (no MM but with teleporting).

It takes like 2 hours to go down 1000 levels, it really is tedious, I do it in my spare time during my classes since it's pretty mindless. and yeah, even with my 10000 speed I get corrupted really quickly, I'd be dead by corruption (aside from the 100 times I would have died without amulets of life saving) if I didn't have my wish engine

A few questions...

1) Why not wish for a couple thousands PoUH and boost your HP up to 50,000 or so? I know it sounds kind of tedious, but it would give you a little bit more insurance against some improbable situation where you get killed by one monster, then another attacks before you can put on a new AoLS. (From the looks of it, most of the monsters you're fighting now look like they can do 10,000-20,000 damage from a hit (depending on misses, criticals, etc.), so I'm guessing 50,000 HP would be sufficient once you start seeing lvl 999 monsters? Dunno)

2) What sort of experience do you get from killing one of these monsters?

3) Once you reach the bottom, are you coming back up? :)

I thought about doing that, It was pretty tedious to get my speed to 10000, and i figured that it wouldn't matter too much since I can just wish for amulets of life saving, as long as I stay vigilant. For a few levels I lost my amulet and didn't even notice, glad I checked because I "died" 10 steps after putting on a new one.

2) What sort of experience do you get from killing one of these monsters?

Just Death Ray'd an Annis Hag, gave me 50k exp

3) Once you reach the bottom, are you coming back up? :)

When I get to the bottom I'm going to dig out the entire level and fill it completely with sheep and embrace death ;)

the limit is 10k of extra hp/sp on top of natural stats.

i've done it with an archmage, it is INCREDIBLY tedious. Spped you can just wish for speed and it stacks up. HP you have to wish for water, potions, bless, then drink them. its a pita.

This is sick man. Congrats you seem to have broken the game wide open.

Don't quit on it, think about the good you could do by learning what happens if you just keep going. I can understand wanting to take a break, just save the character and come back to it from time to time until you can't over come the challenges (I imagine unlimited wishing means you are ok until you forget to do something important) or the game does something interesting.

What if the scroll of omnipotence is on the last level that will load? Thomas will never tell and you might be our only chance to find out...

I'm wondering if there is even a down staircase on the last level. Maybe there is just an upstaircase that takes you to some place no one has yet been...
