Since, like the normal huge iron hammers, the HotG belongs to the Hammer/Club weapon group instead of THW one, does it lose out on the damage improvements THW recieved as a whole? And if that's the case, shouldn't it deserve to recieve the bonus or at least recieve some buffs? Otherwise it seems kind of shafted compared to all other non-polearm twohanders.

Technically such thing as THW as a whole does not exist. Some are recognized THW, some are staves, some lucky ones get to be polemarms and some... I always imagined them as weaponry of giants [huge iron hammers, heavy flail] reused for human sized bodies - hence the penalty.
Balance wise hammer of gods makes nice thrown weapon.

The lack of slaying powers, rather big to-hit penalty (-6) and not-amazing damage [flat 3d10] makes it... passable, I guess? Giving it giant slaying powers could be nice and fitting, and maybe make it a bit more threatening?
