The International Roguelike Developers Conference happens every year and gives a chance for roguelike developers and fans from around the world to meet and discuss roguelike topics, often with a strong game design focus.
This year there are two, with one in the US for the first time.
The UK IRDC is running 27-28 June at the National Videogame Arcade in Nottingham. Full details here (http://www.reddit.com/r/roguelikes/comments/2ybus8/european_irdc_at_the_uk_national_videogame_arcade/). Thomas Biskup has implied he'll be there :) And I'll be there too, showing off my latest game FireTail (http://darrengrey.itch.io/firetail) (cheap plug, I know).
The US IRDC (http://irdc2015usa.tumblr.com/) is running 30-31 May in Atlanta, Georgia. A few interesting developers will be there, including the devs of Dungeonmans and Caves of Qud.
