After playing ADOM for few years, I finally completed my first win. I have save scummed my way to ultraending once, to learn the secrets of the game, but that "win" felt nothing compared to this! Even tough I have experienced the game with save scumm, I still had to create dozens of characters to finally win the game. My HE Archer got to Mana Tempel, but was blasted with a death ray (he had resistance, but could not stand the blast)
Then came Freya, a dwarven wizard! She was raven born and a two headed calf was born the same night se came to the world. The first few levels went fast by doing the raider quest, bolting Hotzenploz and going through the UD. After that she did puppy cave and village dungeon. When those were cleared, she headed to the CoC decending through the early levels to the big room to get some herbs and gold. She managed to get a precrown at lvl 15. The gift was Scullcrusher, it suited her well until she would get the runecovered trident at lvl 16. With the trident in had, she headed to answer Rhehetheps call, and made short work out of him.
Now with the mummy wrapping and ankh at her posession, she was ready to continue on with the saving of the worl. She headed in to the dark forge and sneaked in to the treasure chambers with Teleport. There she found some nice armor and got a wish from a pool. Freya wished for several SLB:s which lasted for the rest of her adventures. Too bad she also turned invisible, which prevented her to acquire the golden gladius and complete the dwarf quests. After that she completed some of the dwarf quests, tomb of the High Kings, and griffyard while getting enought materials to saccrifice to get crowned. This she managed to do before the water temple. She got fire immunity and staff of the arch magi, which ended up at the bottom of her back pack. She managed to get ring of ice and fire proof blanket while clearing the water temple, so after that, she was pretty much ready to go to ToEF. With a bit of luck, she happened to find a Great Red Wyrm in a tension room at DH2, which she disposed off quickly with the cover of darkness and frost bolt. This granted her several levels, which came in handy in ToEF. At some point she had found Robes of Resistance, that provided her a decent armor to use for the rest of the quest. The Ancient Chaos Wyrm was no toruble at all, after pacified with a potion of confusion and blasted to death with Acid Bolts.
After some random adventuring (like clearing the dark forge and paying a visit to the gremlin cave), Freya descended further to the CoC, disposing of the Air Temple and summoner, and entering the Chasino. She gambeled away to fund her further career as an adventurer. After this, she decided, she was good enought climber to go down the rift and visit the library. Library didn't cause too much trouble, but kept her on her toes. Freya borrowed so many books from there, that she could never finish reading all of them, so she saccrificed some of them. :P The library gave her enought levels and spells to travel deeper in to CoC and take out the Ancient stone beast. Acid Ball made short work out of it.
After delivering the corpse to Ternio, Freya dived even deeper to the CoC. There she stumbled in to a threath room full of Greater Carmic Wyrms. She decided to let them continue their slumber and passed on. Then she met the Ancient Carmic Wyrm, who needed help. She saw a great opportunity to get some xp and agreed to go and kill the Ancient Blue Wyrm. Lukily she suffered only minor item destruction, while getting loads of xp from ancient dragons and blue wyrms. A cursed potion of invisibility made killing the Ancient Wyrm easier. After successfully completing Sharaxwaadors quest, Freya was ready to take on the mana temple (this was where I perished last time). I managed to lure the Arch Mage out with a wand of far slaying. I had to dispoce only a few monsters in the cover of darkness. This time too a potion of confusion worked well, and Freya Acid Balled the Arch Mage to death taking almost no damage or corruption.
After delivering the corpse to the druid, it was time to make the final dive. Too bad Freya didn't have a potion of uselessness... The final level was pretty much just bolting, balling and bashing things in the darkness. I didn't have wand of destrucktion, so I had to make things the hard way. After a long battle and exhasting casting from HP freya defeated every single monster on the level and closed the gate. Before leaving Dracolar Chain, freya helped a white Unicorn to become whole again and was rewarded with a cleansed body free of corruption. She left dracolar chain as a hero and lived happily ever after.
Of I forgot some thing, I did get a wish from a ring and wished for potions of will, so I could get larger balls without the water orb. I also did clean the bug temple, to get some xp and SoCR. This was between Earth temple and Blue dragon caves.
First win, perhaps I should aim for an ultraending next. :P If there is an easy way to post memorial files, id be happy to add it.
