Realized it's been 10 years since I last played Adom, and just found out 1.2.0 is out. Thought I'd give it a try, so I played the same character as my last win - a dark elven priest - just to see if there are any differences or new additions. Here's the result:

He was a holy champion of Balance.
After some tight spots in the beginning due to low To, things started to look up. He found a few nice spellbooks during the trip to the PC and the DD and could pass SMC with ease due to invisibility. In the UD he found the first new feature, a statue, which gave him a few nice intrinsics (-stun, -conf, -fire). At this point he was low on offensive magic, but found a nice Dagger of Death in the PC vault which he used effectively for some time. A lot of altars were generated compared to earlier versions of the game, he really should have gone for precrowns but I didn't want to waste too much time doing things I already knew about.
Dive to Dwarftown was uneventful, although I did notice that even though the Big Room was dug out to contain 43 enclosed worms, monster generation continued throughout. I'm guessing this is new. A LOT of loot was generated in the big room due to Treasure Hunter, including an AoLS which was used to save Khelly. Got crowned with Skullcrusher but was surprised to find out that the gods no longer want to become vegetarians and refuse to accept stomafillia as sacrifices.
Pyramid, Griffyard & dwarven quests were no trouble at all. A few levels below the CoC graveyard he found a glowing wand with two wishes. One wish for spellbooks of Rain of Sorrow and another for 7LB.
Water temple was no problems, TotHK no problems (that Skeletal King is way easier now that he's a summoner, just use the skeletal warriors as shields and pummel him with magic missile), ToEF no problems. Decided to try the Ice Queen domain since I read about it here. Rather weird place, he never found the secret passage to the dungeon staircase (where is it?) and some of the areas were a bit boring. The Frost Giant Caves, however, was a real treat. A greater vault filled with fire creatures gave Sun's Messenger, Death's Blade, BoW and Thunderstroke, tons and tons of great potions, along with 8 levels (being slowed while killing the Great Red Wyrm gave almost 700K exp).
5 more greater vaults were generated, all of which contained fire creatures (124 ancient red dragons vanquished in total). Is this normal? The second vault contained Preserver, Nature's Companion, Shirt of the Saints and Hammer of the Gods. I must admit the game became a bit boring after this since he was more or less unstoppable at this point. Cleared the Air Temple, Earth Temple without losing but a few hit points, took care of the BDC with Wyrmlance (found in the casino) mostly for the challenge. Read somewhere that Nurgy can teleport in the MT now so he read a scroll of monster aggravation at the stairs (first time I've ever used this item) and sure thing here comes Mr. Chaos Archmage. Dropped him with two missile hits without even having to dig into the temple.
Uselessness gift was Nature's Friend. Useless indeed! Cleared D50 with ease, the Balors each fell with just a few demon slaying arrows or quarrels. Fisty was equally easy. Left the chain without bothering about the rift or the Minotaur Maze. I'll try those next time as well as going for my first 1.2.0p23 ultra.
