More things in dungeons

Do any class/race get more special things in dungeons.
I only recall 2 features.
1. A special birth message, not sure I've ever seen those.
Any ideas what chance for that.
2. merchants supposedly generate more shops, this could very well be a false rumour .

Bards tend to get items with higher variables, if I remember right. So instead of +-3 they get +-5 or something like that.

Not sure about the shops generated, had a mist elf merchant ultra half a year ago or so, only had 1 shop generated.

Supposedly when you get the long lost brother message you get more features overall, so more shops, altars, herbs, rivers, etc. could be mistaken, but it seems that way to me.
