This was probably one of the easier games I've done so far, especially compared to my last win (the druid), that was a really harrowing experience, this game was remarkably smooth.
Did the usual stuff around Terinyo, taking druid quest and killing a raider lord. Killed the druid without any trouble. Puppy cave had a number of important rewards, notably a book shop an altar, and a battle axe of penetration. And a dead puppy, I guess. The book store had a couple nice spells in it, notably Strength of Atlas and Cure Light Wounds that I bookcasted constantly for the first third of the game. Wandered through the UD looking for herbs, but didn't find any really good patches (I think I found some stoma but that's about it). Went to the CoC, did some quests for a dwarf. Went to the Pyramid and killed Rehetep, then did the graveyard. Tried digging a grave, but the master lich that appeared summoned a huge group of ghost lords, and I only had 3 pots of invisibility on hand (fortunately I did have teleport), so I abandoned that idea. Saved griff and left. Darkforge was a pushover with may penetrating axe. I think I found a mace of destruction there too. Got extremely lucky with pool sips, netting myself invisibility, see invisibility, paralysis resistance, death ray resistance, and a wish. And I didn't even lose teleport control. Wished for AoLS, saved Khelly. Cleared HotHK, and, since I had a ring of ice, went to the ToEF.
ToEF was quite easy. With 300+ speed, I ran through the first three levels, dug my way to the ACW paralysed him and dropped him with my axe. Went to Casino, didn't find anything really good. Added a wish at some point for 7LBs. I also had found 3-4 books of acid ball by this point... Did the ratling and Gaab'Baay quests, then got crowned with =acid and Justifier. Awesome for a paladin. Cleared Air and Earth Temples without any trouble. No greater vaults, unfortunately. Ran down the UL and did the AKW quest--cleared most of the place with acid balls, and Justifier, killed the AKW, then did the Mana Temple. Mana Temple was a breeze. Went in, blasted everything away with acid ball, killed Archmage with humanoid slayers. Did the Rift to stock up on spells.
I was only level 42 at this point, so I went to the Water Dragon Cave to level up. Momma dragon behaved very weirdly. I used darkness, then I just hit her a couple times until she did. She never tried to flee, or even, for that matter, move. I'm wondering if there might be a bug that she doesn't move until you take one of her treasures? I just backstabbed her... Will look into this when I get the chance. Since I had invised her, I got to 45, killed Filk on I:2, killed Emperor Moloch, got the ToRR. Went down to D:48, finished business there, made my way through D:49, and came out with speed of 10 on D50. No improved fireball, fire gems or alchemy. Okay... so I just start fighting things hoping my speed will eventually go up. Really annoying fighting monsters with 8 attacks while having <30 speed. I noticed I had 3 scrolls of familiar summoning and decided I would try to summon a fire elemental to heat me up. First one was greater earth elemental, who started stomping WMoPC for me. Second was a fire elemental. Hit him to get him mad, but then the earth elemental came over and killed him. Third scroll was a second earth elemental. So I just let the two of them do most of the work. Fisty came for a look around when we approached the main chamber and attacked the elementals... and they owned him. He was fleeing within 3 turns, and they dropped him with rocks a turn or two later. From that point on, it was pretty easy. Elementals killed almost everything, I helped where I could. Got my speed back, buffed up, hopped into the portal. AR conveniently spawned almost right next to me, so I hit him with a PoCC, took him down to critical with Justifier, and finished him off with the ToRR for the win.
