Found no good shield before casino so I've lacked DV and had to catch up in D:50, but two things made this game: whip of penetration and crown of regeneration. Also early random djinni made the game faster. Maybe Treasure Hunter is worth it?

Whips are almost as good as spears in terms of DV. Also with cat's ring and herbs it's easier to have higher Dexterity than Strength, so higher to-hit and damage is also nice. Kinslayer is decent weapon, but it would not provide the fun of meleeing Ancient Stone Beast.

There were uneasy moments: tension room in VD7, before obtaining Healing. ToEF's grues hit hard and frequently. Tension room full of werewolf kings in Air Temple (these ones were left on their own). No luck for confusion resistance items and no light source in Mana Temple was scarry, but Nuurag didn't know that (what's interesting, traps in darkness are not dangerous, but they are dangerous when you're blind in darkness). Fighting with 3 balors at the same time.

But in general assassins are nice. Alertness, Dodge, Detect Traps, Pick Locks and Stealth for not getting hurt. Alchemy, Archery, Backstabbing and Find Weakness for easy fight. And good dice on Tactics for both. I've lost one Assassin before this one, but it was really stupid (on exp. level 10 I thought about using Alchemy: "so how can I see recipes? Take a plant, take another herb and... -17 HP? Oh").

In general orcs are also very nice.

I've tried to hurry, so there was no pick pocketing, no lengthy side quests (only the initial ones) and I've turned on auto pick up items. As a result I've earned 44 731 168 points in 48 398 game turns, which gives me 4th place in http://ancardia.uk.to/adom_hiscore/hiscore_vr59.txt. I could even call it speed run, although I did no detailed optimizations of turn count.

I have a feeling that 1.2.0 is easier than 1.1.1. Guaranteed Ring of Ice, weaker Ancient Chaos Wyrm, different RNG distribution of items, more frequent altars, Ice Queen for those who need it and no uberjackal effect made the game more balanced. If only characters could reach experience level 45 in Mana Temple...

The game is definitely easier but it's also much less exploitable in terms of easy strategies for bosses and scumming stats with ring of weakness and such. A lot of people were against the boss changes initially but after playing through for a while I still like it.

I think Ice Queen is a really cool addition and I hope the Volcano turns out as well as the Ice Queen Domain.

1.2.0 is easier if you try to play it the way it's supposed to be played through (speedrunny way).

1.1.1 is easier with slowplaying and not caring about the turncount since A LOT of things were fixed in 1.2.0

I would disagree. Ice queen domain serves as extra experience and loot source prior to ToEF. This alonbe makes game easier (although I often handle IQD after casino, but I would not recommend that for others.)
