map scrolling with the keyboard?

I play in graphical mode, but mostly use the keyboard. Unfortunately, this leads to a really annoying situation where my character can walk off the screen, requiring me to use my mouse to see the correct part of the map. Is there any way to use the keyboard to scroll the map, or at least focus on the player character?

If anyone was wondering, I think what I was looking for was the 'l'ook command. Anyway, a recent update seems to have fixed the problem.
