My first death on D50.

My orc fighter was only experience level 29 when he entered the bottom of the CoC, but he killed everything he came across easily and gained a couple of levels. Then this happened:


You hit the ghost lord with full force and critically damage it. The ghost
lord misses you. The ghost lord punches through your armor and hits you.
You suddenly age! You feel middle-aged. You feel old. You feel very old.
You hit the ghost lord and destroy it. [+3999xp] You age... Suddenly you can
see the Grim Reaper directly in front of you. She speaks "Thou hast
tarried too long. Now thy time hath come. I hereby demand thy life!" Her
scythe moves like lightning and runs through your body as if through
warm butter. Your life drains away... You die...

Ouch, that sucks. I generally stick to elves for just this reason. I'm not sure how people survive with orcs and trolls, unless they're just stocking up on undead slaying ammo and keeping their distance from all things ghosty.

Potion of longevity can still save you if you're being aged to death. It works even after your background information says you're already aged to death but that chance lasts for only a single turn, so use it well. :)
