This is a dwarf monk who found a wand of wishing with 5 charges, so 6 wishes total.
I created this character to gain True Strength, reach level 50 and check if you then perhaps might get a quest in the heavenly area.

The first wish was spent to save Khelavaster. Poolsipping has already granted Teleport Control (and See Invis), as well as another wish, that I spent on magical writing sets (got 8 charges total). Now what to do with the 5 remaining ones? I'm considering wishing for more writing sets to write scrolls of magic mapping, to do the maze. He's already been crowned with the ring of immunity, so dragon scale armor is not interesting.. maybe wish for bloody daggers? Haven't found any better weapon than mace of destruction yet. I'm even considering a wish for everburning torches.

The greater vault in Haggar's caves has giants, and a wand of item detection revealed that they guard the shirt of the saints. However, it's guarded by tons of high level fire giant kings and a titan, and I'm not quite strong enough to take on those guys yet. I've done the early game including ice queen, darkforge and water temple so far. Thanks for any suggestions.

Crystal helmet. And maybe eternium 2h sword?

Nothing useful in darkforge?
Why not big punch?

Gogs,7lb and archery are my goto's in a case like this.
With that many wishes, probably a cloak of invis (or cloaks of invis), very powerful for melee/archer chars.

As a monk you're not too bad at spellcasting if you need frost bolt for TOEF for example.

And yes with no skill in bows/crossbows (who more reliably have slaying ammo) grind firegiants is slow.
But why not do as much as you can until the nasty giants begin to appear, then TP and save the rest for later?

Btw, since you're using ring of immunity you can swap from Rolfs to eternium shield, DV is worth much more because of how shield skill works.

I decided to do the ToEF and casino first, to avoid wishing for something that I find in the casino immediately afterwards.

Casino had:

Girdle of Giant Strength
Silence of the Dead
Bracers of War
A Spellbook of Acid Ball

And I found a random RoDS. This is the most disgusting luck I've had in a long time.

Crystal helmet is something I never considered before but it's probably the best item for the slot. Wishing for skills seems inefficient compared to writing sets as a monk, because I can write scrolls of education with no penalty. Wishing 7LB is counterintuitive with these class powers, but I guess you can never walk too fast, and I am about to face a hostile Cat Lord. I'll take a break for a day and think about it. Having so much luck is frightening.

I should probably reserve at least a wish or two for gaining experience to reach level 50.

And another question: is it a chaotic act to kill monsters with Silence of the Dead? Never used a bloodsucking weapon before.

P.S. if there is enough interest we could make this into a team game, where we each get to spend one or two wishes. It almost feels selfish to spend all of them myself. :p

SotD isn’t chaotic to use, as I guess sucking blood is ok with the laws as long as it doesn’t restore hp. Or be used on non-chaotics.

I agree with archery, which allows you to throw the rune-covered trident more efficiently at all those greater molochs to get to level 50. Alternately, phase daggers might be useful for those.

If the quickling tree is on your itinerary, a staff of purification can be helpful to get the appropriate corruptions early.

If you cannot write scrolls of education yet, maybe wish for a starter set, so you still can level your skills when you level up.

The writing sets vs specific skills might depend on how many skills you actually think would be useful to acquire. I wrote some scrolls of education in one game, with which I got: metallurgy, gardening, meditation about two-weapon combat, and a 4th unhelpful result. Wishing for Archery would have been more useful, that time around.

I'll put in one vote against SLB. Particularly with Monk class powers, using a wish on a trap-destroyable item that you'll likely find along the way anyway seems...low-gain. Versus PoGA, which I tend to think of as "what to use a wish on if you can't think of something better".

Having done ToEF, are you any better-positioned to tackle the tougher giants?

I know you already have writing sets, but some of my most productive wishing for characters who are already well-equipped has been for many writing sets ==> a few magic mapping, a few cure corruption, and an embarrassingly-rich array of scrolls of Protection/Defense, which can net like +13/+13 or better, across your whole set of worn items.

Ok - so I finished up the game. Wished for 7LB and writing sets, got the AotME (using up all of 18 Scrolls of Magic Mapping that I'd written to get it). All in all I still think AotME > SotD.

In any case, the game had a tragic end. Somehow I did not get True Strength on D:50. I must have done something chaotic, no idea what it was. :( So the gate is closed, not sure how to continue. I have some wishes left and could still do Rolf, get the ToTRR.. or just end it here.

Yes, you're right. There are too many worthless skills around to rely on SoE for gaining a specific one.

Hmm, I ended up wishing for them anyway. It still lowered the cost of moving from 600 to 500, just enough to outrun the cat lord. With full immunities from the ring, as well as high luck, the risk of item destruction isn't so bad.

Having done ToEF, are you any better-positioned to tackle the tougher giants?
Yes, SotD and bracers of war were the power spike that made all the difference there.

Yeah I know, this wish is hard to beat for a monk - although I still wonder if it isn't better to use potions of raw chaos on logs instead.

I must have done something chaotic, no idea what it was. :(

Improvised missile attack (PoCC) against a peaceful chaos diplomat? This one got me, but I'm not sure how common the practice is outside of discord.

Wow, bingo. I thought aiming past him would work, but I guess not then. Thanks a lot!

For the record: by now I talked to everyone in the heavenly area with True Strength equipped in a new game, but no result. Giving the girdle to the Seraph didn't work, either.
