My first win was a very specifically created character based on maximum performance, a dark elf wizard. I wanted my second win to be the most basic character ever, so, I created a Human Fighter.

In most RPGs, I like playing as the average joe in a world of well, unusualness is the best way to describe it. I felt right at home with a human warrior, it just felt the entire time like the game didn't want me to win it.

The only real scummy method I used in this was gremlin bombing in the underwater cave... and I only did that until I got the AoLS so I could save Khelly. I actually think the fact that you have to find a super rare non-guaranteed rare item that early in the game in order to get an ultra to be one of this marvelous game's only flaws.

I didn't do the Crown/Medal of chaos quests until AFTER I got the TotRR. After that, I became a crowned champion of chaos. You know what? I honestly don't know what I got as a crowning gift. I already had the bracers of war from a precrowning early in the game in the Village Dungeon (and I owe this win to them, those things are phenomenal) The only other possibility a fighter can get besides the bracers is weapons... and I already had the overpowered trident, so...

It should be noted that every boss on this character? I meleed to death. This resulted in getting the crap drained out of my stats for some (especially STR), but you know what? It was worth it just to say that I meleed every boss to death.

There were a few near-deaths on this character that I will number as the top three.

3. There were no less than 5 ghost tension rooms that I encountered in the game. Given that I was playing as a HUMAN, and those things punch through PV, this was a very very bad thing. My solution was to back up constantly while one shotting them all in berserker mode. Luckily I also found enough potions of to counter all the aging.

2. At one point in D:48, I was heading down a hallway, to be faced with a greater moloch. I started meleeing him and backing up, only to see that another greater moloch was right behind me. I took out the first and started fighting the second, who unexpectedly crit me, taking me down to 1 HP. I immediately teleported out of there. Man was my heart pumping.

1. The Mana Temple. Oh god, the mana temple. I was surrounded by Chaos Servants and greater chaos servants, all of which were beating the snot out of me. (the writhing masses of primal chaos couldn't touch me) I fought my way through them and FINALLY killed Nuurag-Vaarn, but not without the cost of a great deal of strength. Then, I was stuck with the chaos servants, who put me through a ton of praying and a ton of using the Water Orb, and cleaned me out of Ultra Healing potions. It was then that I tried a last ditch effort. Up to this point I assumed that since Nuurag-Vaarn could cast Darkness, that these things could fight in darkness. Well, you know what happens when you assume? Under cover of darkness, I could clear the room without threat.

The RNG was kind to me. I got the bracers of war as a pre crowning gift and preserver in the frictionless room. I also had a healthy supply of potions of gain attributes and scrolls/potions of education (I got the concentration skill but really never used it, I got it up to 100 while getting experience jumps from meleeing balors on D:50.

On D:50, I bookcasted teleport a bunch of times to lure enemies around (I didn't want to even START with those ghost lords) until I was at an open spot next to Fisty, who I meleeed down, put on the crown and medal, and jumped through the gate. Once there, I replaced the medal with preserver, the crown with my smithing-improved eternium cap, and just whipped Andy all over the Chaos Plane. Final battle was easy. :)

I did have some 7LB, but they weren't AS useful for this character as more DV/PV. They lower movement rate but not attack rate.

This character also went through like 3 pairs of the things. I used a wish to generate a couple and found a couple more. First blast of lightning I took in the Dragon Caves took out one pair, and I lost 2 more to acid traps. Blah!

I also just realized I forgot to put on my +6 DV +8 PV cloak against Andy. Cest la vie!

In retrospect, I thought I would be doing more with this guy than just meleeing, I figured I'd at least need missiles to take on the Emperor Moloch. Nope! 5 shots with a phase dagger; he got one attack on me and missed. Even if he crit me with that one attack I had like 1.1 k health.

Treasure hunter was useful because Fighters are very gear-dependant, and that talent helped me find some much needed suits of Red Dragon Scale Mail (and this character went through 1 suit of that, 1 suit of eternium plate, and 1 suit of black dragon scale mail, all slowly destroyed in melee).

I should have chosen just nothing but melee talents with this guy. I never really used book casting (i outright knew teleport and had enough castings to last me) and I didn't use missiles as much as I thought I would, though they did come in handy against karmics.

Most of the game I used Executor, which I found along with a suit of Black Dragon Scale Mail in Darkforge (lucky!), and a shield (never found an eternium tower shield :( ) After I got the TotRR, I fed executor to the Demented Ratling. A sentimental character, this is not!

Oh yeah, word of advice. With Literacy at 100 and Learning at 30, it is very very hard for fighters to learn Fireball from a blessed book. Eh, I tried!

That is high PV! Good job on winning.

Oh yeah it's high PV. I figured I might as well take full advantage of the fact that I'm playing a Fighter, and make their normally lackluster class skills awesome. If I was wearing the cloak I forgot to put on, my PV would have been over 100. I enhanced the cloak with scrolls of defense/protection, and enhanced everything else with smithing (since I was wearing a variety of metals, it didn't take very long either. I mined out like 1 level. I also had a good supply of eternium because you can pickpocket eternium ingots, and I was pickpocketing throughout the CoC)

I'm a huge supporter of PV, even in the end game. It's awesome against everything except the dozen or so things it's not. If you get it super high, it even helps against greater moloch non-crits. Andy didn't touch me, at all.
