If anyone wants to give me an educated suggestion on class/race choises for a new game, I've got some pondering on ADOM here https://youtu.be/OjyWCoNhXek :) (Well actually on all three videos.) :)

What playing style are you looking for?
How do you value early game survival vs late game power?
Do you like a fast game where you tackle problems heads-on, or do you want preptime like Batman?

Hi there. Thanks for sharing it. I am going to watch it and then ask you some questions.

First of all, where can I get headphones like those in your video. Second, I stay away from human archetypes in general. Try to mix it up a little. A good rule of thumb I always adhere to is treat it like an online casino (https://mukcheck.com/), mix and match and see what you get out of it. The more variety the better.

Just like what grobblewobble said:

These are some things that you might want to consider in character creation.

If you want a challenge avoid any type of spell casters and play a melee. Class selection is kind of a way to change the difficultly of the game. Wizards are by far the easiest to play, then other pure casters (and also archers), then sub casters, then melee, and then non-casters/non-melee classes (for example the merchant). Some might argue that very early game strong melee classes are stronger than casters, which has some truth in it, but that does not last very long. For me, I find casters a bit boring, as at a certain point they just become unstoppable and so I tend to just avoid magic and go the pure melee route, but if you are still learning the game, casters can be a good way to explore it, test things and learn more about the game.

I generally ignore magic and stick to melee combat because I find casters to be a bit monotonous. However, if you are still learning the game, casters can be a nice method to explore it, test things, and learn more about it.
