Today I found a sweet shortsword, that deserved the recognition of an artifact. The Shortsword of Destruction +5 (5D6+3).

Unfortunately, the sword was lost in a freak accident involving a rust beast and three ochre jellies.

We'll always remember you, Shortsword of Destruction. You will not be forgotten.

Now I'm stuck with that stupid artifact I got from becoming the arena champion. (Was I supposed to be able to beat all 20 fights at level ten?)

lol. I've had a similar blade before. They are very nice to find :D I've become the champion at lvl 10 before. I'm sure some others have done it at a lower level. Those that are far more experienced. ehehehe. I hope I find a blade like that with my current character though :D

I haven't found any key for that. You may have done it in another roguelike. ;)

Try the Name command while the item is laying next to you, on ground. Just a coincidence, same such sword generated for me in Casino. And I still have it. Blessed and rustproofed. Yay. Just so you know that you're not alone. Except that I saved this one in one piece, and am using it now.

The [n]ame command? It did not work. According to the keybinding list it is used for naming a monster/yourself.

I really hoped! It would feel nice if it worked. Thanks for telling if it worked or not. Here of Forums, we keep learning things even when we thought that they were all exhausted by Guidebook.

Man, somebody has to figure that out, because I want to name my next artifact sword "stompy". Then I'll have to kill my pet, who I also named stompy, as there can only be one.

...And I wonder why I always end up being chaotic...

I suddenly realize that it's dumb of me to be angry with my god for not answering my prayers...

I think you can inscribe items but I don't remember in which rougelike it is. That reminds me of something I'd really like in ADoM, being able to enscribe things into the ground.

That's Nethack. I wasted some Fifteen daggers with an illiterate character trying to get an Elbereth engraved in the floor.

Stupid noobish question of the day. How do you make something rustproof?

You bless a potion of oil removal and then dip the metal item in it, higher metals are already waterproof.

Elone

Err Doalag.

You bless a potion of oil removal

Are you sure it goes like that? And not:
Potion of Oil
and
Oil of Rust Removal?

P.S. Those are quite tasty.

Jonas

errr, just use the white potion that Yriggs(mad carpenter) drops after you bless it.

Elone

Jonas, you're not helping by saying that Yrrigs will drop a potion after you bless it. Or at least by saying it in such a confusing way.

Bah; I was a Newbie teacher before, in a certain world. Lines like this would always end up being unproductive.

Any Newbie reading this... Do your best to tangle your way out of this minor confusion?

Lol comon it's just a typo, oil removal isn't it nice? :D Obviously if english wad my native language in no way I will have done the confusion. :p

This unwieldy language which you call English, is not my native language either. You get used to some things whether you like them or not.

Ok ok, i know you are right, but please I already know the next language lessons and won't apply them so if you can save me from them, that would help us both! :D
