Yeah, i had a surge of power with my dwarven beastfighter, lured the named harpy to terinyo, and let the baby dragon take care of him after he had killed some civilians :D

Of course, when i went back, i noticed a black tome on the floor (probably the lamest artifact i know of) >.<

Just thought it was funny and i'd like to know if you got a similar story.

Ye, in fact it happened to me 2 days ago. Created a new char (random, it was a dark elf merchant), generated smc at lvl 1 and saw the "you feel a surge of power" message. So I went on, killed some goblins and such, then saw a named shadow centipede. Killed him easily with missiles, got scorched spear.

The char died like 3 minutes after that though, gotta hate tension rooms with hostile blink dogs teleporting to you and summoning freaking hundreds of stupid yellow d's in a matter of 3 turns :(
