Just like to share my little friend

You examine Hawkslayer, the burly adventurer. Diagnosis: Level: 150, DV: 134, PV: 52, Hits: 1224, Attacks: 30, Damage:63-99. Speed:119.

I have to admit that DV and PV are somewhat unimpressive, considering that it's level 150. But the number of attacks!! If each lands, and hits about 100, Hawkslayer the Uber could deal 3000 per round. He already starts with a nice speed, too. He shoots, also? Eternium arrows, if I remember well.

Now I'm also interested how you trained him, and where, and how long it took.

That is indeed one burly adventurer... The DV/PV aren't as insane as his other attacks, but they're enough to fend off most enemies, and he has enough HP to hold his own against all but a swarm of killer bugs.

It didn't take very long at all to train him, he actually made 1 level per kill... of course, he was killing the burly guard (typically, you can get around the guard if you have the ring of high kings). It took a while at first to keep him alive as the guard has 2000+ hp and deals pretty serious damage, but after Hawkslayer got to a certain point, he was killing the guard with 1 turn and leveling one turn per kill.

Also, he stopped shooting arrows a long time ago, i think he has a limited supply

:D

Haha! I think that's insane.

A way to get an enormously powerful companion. I wonder if anyone has trained him that far before.

Crazy amount of attacks. Damage grew too.

You will know, that, if you tried to exploit Titans and Greater Titans for eternium quarrels... (well, i'm crazy enough to stand in their line of fire) They just stop shooting. No amount of RNG will get them to shoot another missile. Same happened with Hawkslayer, he stopped shooting because he ran out of missiles because Creator realised the exploit early-on.

I do believe that is a record. I hope you don't step on
a fireball trap near him.

Hawkslayer is a NPC in the high mountain village. He
can become your companion, if you give him a certain
code word...

Really impressive. But watch out to not anger him:)

People have trained him PRETTY far, but now it's getting ludicrous.

A crying shame you can't just have him kill Andor for you, but you CAN sic him on the emperor moloch.

True awesomeness... I never thought of training Hawkslayer with the Eternal Guardian (or burly guard as you call him) - how much did you have to keep healing him before he started getting one hit kills? What level was he before you unleashed him on the EG? Also what level did you get Hawslayer as your companion at?

My character was a gnomish wizard, was around level 27 when I got Hawkslayer. Trained him in the big room in the COC before proceeding to the animated forest. He grew pretty fast there but I had to watch him carefully and heal him pretty frequently. One thing I noticed -- healing hawkslayer changes your alignment towards lawful, and since he getting healed pretty often, I became a "fallen champion" of balance pretty quickly.

I took him down deeper into the dungeon, letting him take on ancient dragons, etc. I'm not sure when I first let him take on the eternal guardian but it was very difficult at first. I had to aggro / confuse / blind the eternal guardian and had multiple cannon fodder companions to take hits as well. After a while though, Hawkslayer began taking the Eternal Guardian's 2400 hps down pretty quickly (2-3 turns) and then, he just started killing him after a few attacks and takes 0 damage in return.

Even at level 300, Hawkslayer will still level after 2-3 eternal guardian kills so it's possible to train him much higher... but when you can deal that much damage already-- what's the point?

The eternal guardian is a great way to train a strong companion... just don't kill him while he's on the stairs, otherwise he doesn't respawn.

BTW, I was messing around and tried to kill Hawkslayer. It actually wasn't difficult since he's so slow... 20-30 improved fireballs killed him... and my character gained 7 levels of experience (43 to 50)

Very interesting... I'm writing a guide for bards at the moment, and I'd quite like to use some of this information as an example of how strong pets can get.

Healing pets is always a lawful act. A good way to retain alignment is to have another pet (preferably weaker) that you can keep taming and kicking over and over - quickly turns you back to the dark side. You were a wizard though, so I guess you didn't have such options.

Interesting that you could kill him so easily, but then I guess he didn't have that much HP overall. How much xp did he actually give (you can still see by checking the description for burly adventurer with '&').

From Monster Memory, killing Level 300 Hawkslayer gave 6,231,062 experience points.
