I just want to say...that having Detect Traps at 100 and then Disarm Traps at 65 is pure awesome. I love getting experience for disarming traps :D

Well then, let me say, I know the feeling, although I would still rather have Disarm Traps at 75+ (-:

I also have a certain fondness for Open Locks for some odd reason.

I didn't know you get experience from disarming traps. But I know that it's awesome to have 100 detect traps and disarm traps.

What's awesome is 100 detect traps with the Thief level 6 power - searching on every steps means you'll often find traps before you ever step on them. High alertness makes them even more immune to traps. Disarm Traps is risky to use below 80, and the xp it gives is pathetically small. It does tend to work very well on door traps though.

Speaking of traps - say I'm a low level Fighter PC, trying to escort the puppy out of the cave. But an explosion trap on level one blocks a corridor to the upward stairs. Presumably, although my PC would avoid the trap, the puppy would set it off.

How can I resolve this situation, short of mining/digging (I can't see a method of either)?

Fireball traps vanish after being set off only a few times. You can either strip naked and do it yourself, or lure a monster across it at a safe distance.
