...with my powerful 34th level monk in a room where "You get the odd feeling that something is wrong with your perception of this room, but can't seem to tell what it is from just looking around".
Unluckily it was a stairs room, and the stairs were just behind me... at the second kick, you can imagine what it happened...
Was it bad luck or only overconfidence, i think this was my stupidest death in my ADOM career.
The sadest thing is that for this char the win was only a matter of time. I had just cleaned out a GREATER VAULT full of GREATER UNDEAD only for a personal challenge, and i was going up to the Casino and then to Dwarftown to retrain my lost stats.
Where failed a Lich Emperor, the human stupidity succeeded :)

Kicking the stairs trains strength. To prevent getting 99 St that way, it has a very low chance of collapsing the dungeon and thus killing your PC.

Ok, I created a trollish barbarian and tired it for 15 minutes. Finally, the collapse did happen.

Your mighty kick causes severe structural damage to the stairway.
The dungeon suddenly shakes and everything starts to brake down.
You are crushed by tons of rock.
You die...

I thought that the collapsing dungeon thing just causes the Earthquake spell effect, with walls breaking down and rocks falling, not an instakill like that. And I didn't get even one st increase all that time! It must have been extremely bad luck that it happened in one accidental kick!

It's a risk to kick stairs, but at low levels it can be very useful to increase strength, that happens usually when you level up. I have noticed that only my chars with "athletic" skills can gain strength in this way, i don't know if it's only a coincidence or a proven fact.
Anyway it's the first time that i see the dungeon collapse at the second kick. I didn't had the time to realize that i wasn't getting the usual message "you practice your kata" for not having kicked down the wall.
